Do you think there's something in our attempt to lure Haywood over on those dollars? Do youbelieve Cook? Or do you believe in SENs reporting?

I'm not sure ... i thought they were offering him martin's money?

Re ex Carlton footballer. Where did he get it from? Are you sure the ex Blue wasn't Heath Buck? He isn't that connected, but given he's an ex Blue. It would be more credible coming from an existing team mate. My best mate is an ex Blue, and I know more about the goings on at carlton than he does. Everyone hears rumours. Did you ex Carlton mate say he heard a rumour or Weitering told him so?

my mate still has a bit to do with the club, so he'd know. weiters and young had a blow up last season after training. it's not like they were pulled apart or anything ... but there's bad blood there from weiters. charlie and marchbank don't like young either for whatever it's worth.

But we do already have 4 small forwards and a 2 rucks dilemma because TDK is not holding his marks and kicking straight at goal consistently when Fwd, but when he does, watch out. He's looking great as the No 1 ruck. We are a much more dangerous forward line when we have 3 tall marking forwards, with one a genuine Fwd Ruck to stop disrupting our spine by pinching Harry to make ends meet, then having Charlie with 2 opponents.

SOS is earmarked for the position by a lot of posters, but I don't forget he wasn't guaranteed of a spot in the 23 when he was fit. I think we are living in hope with SOS because of our desperate need for a chop out in the ruck and a 3rd marking tall. Yes SOS is better in that role than Cripps and Kennedy but nowhere near as dangerous as TDK imo.

We have needs. Just got a feeling we wont be investing in another small forward for a while after investing since 2020 Gibson, Fogarty, Durdin, Motlop, Betts, Owies and now Williams giving us something.

i think sos makes the 22 over pittonet, if we're all healthy. he has a red hot go in the ruck, and chases and does the team things that we need.

i don't rate any of our smalls. at all. motlop is maybe the best of the bunch, but even then he's a little 1-dimensional. no x-factor. fog is great when he's at it 100%, but when he's just 1% off, he's not offering much - as the last 4 weeks has shown.

owies is gone at season end, martin too. Maybe williams steps up into the martin role with SOS, but i can see us definitely in the market for a small forward.

by all reports moir has the talent, but not the application. it would really suck if he doesn't come on into that medium forward role.

If any club asks about any player don’t matter who it is we should seriously think about trading them we do lack some talent and pace

Hawthorn plucked Cam MacKenzie out of St Kilda’s academy.

Luamon Lual to Scum, from Dogs.
Mitch Edwards to #lifestyle, from Freo.
Lance Collard to St Kilda, from West Coast.
Jesse Motlop to Carlton, from Freo.

Certain to be others - and that’s not including Norf trying to pull a Dark Emu with Ryley Sanders.

Looks like we’re after Nick Haynes to partner Weitering.

Really good intercept and contested mark, only 192cm . Plays bigger than he is, but big enough? We'll see. A genuine defender though.

I like his old stuff better than his new stuff…

Liam McMahon would be a better prospect.

How’s Fischer McAsey going?

No thanks

I'm more concerned that he's an interceptor rather than a lockdown defender, which is what we really need. And we're needing one in the 197-200cm range. We're ok for 190-195cm.

Problem is that he is 32yo.
Alex Keath can't get a game at the Dogs so might be available however he is 32yo as well.
Adam Tomlinson is 31yo

Flyin' Ryan is available from west coast. probably out of our price range, given we're chasing the campo twins and weagles want picks.

the kind of small forward we need, tho ...

I'd take Haynes over Keath/Tomlinson. When he's selected he still does well, I just think GWS want to get more games into their talented young defenders. But I agree with others he's not really what we're lacking.

@Braithy: either that or we've decided to try Kemp in another position (no, not the bench/rezzies!). But then we'd have a defence where nearly everyone's going to age out at the same time, which is a major red flag.

The best part in the article was this:
Quote:
Carlton will replace the ground surface at Ikon Park at the completion of the AFLW season in December

I hope there's no substance to this. 33 next year. Injury history. Not KPD size. Our list is tight for spots as it is without adding someone superfluous to our actual needs

or given hayne's age, we're getting veteran leadership now, and allowing kemp to develop another season?

when does gov's contract expire? if it's at season end, hayne's make's sense. he'd be really cheap, offer the vet leadership we've missed with doc gone, and for whatever reason we don't think doc will get back on the field again. and we're giving kemp another offseason and another year to develop.

kemp will be a beauty at some point.

Ive always liked the way he plays... for them. But I have never thought I would want him, unlike Charlie Cameron or Bobby Hill.

He is fun to watch, but trying to take mark of the year at every contest can be something for some other club

agreed on the aerial stuff. but he's fast and crumbs and can snag a goal.
