..disagree psych, every club would play Menz, which is why he'd have excellent trade currency.. ....I worry about his potential to develop bad habits under our pisspoor leadership, that's the sole reason I'd consider trading him.... ..i'm not worried about go home factor or popping knees.. ....in regards to elite ability, he is one of a few on our list..

We will have to disagree on the this one BKB. No one doubts his talent but for a kid in his third year I believe his output has been average and definitely not an "established player". Not that he can't be but IMO he hasn't produced enough yet.

..he is established, here and anywhere else, as far as his fitness will allow him to be.. ..as we both bemoaned when we drafted him and crisps, these guys due to their significant injury setbacks, will take a few years more than their peers to reach their peak.. ..neither will be dominant until their mid twenties..

I'm not sure the best way to rebuild is by trading the established 21yr olds out of the club. Outside of a very impressive offer I wouldn't be trading Menz. He's the bird in the hand at this stage. A bird we should be holding on to.

He's not established. That is the problem.

When he's fit, he plays. That's established IMO.

I think it's more a reflection on our list than Menzel. Talented but based purely on performance he wouldn't be an established player in many top clubs.

That is pure fantasy; most clubs would play Menzel off HF, and do so happily. Elite decision making, elite kick, elite forward nous and can take a grab. So what if he has to work on his tank a bit to play full-time midfield?

Is he lazy? No, so he stays unless someone offers the farm.

Wouldn't trade Menzel unless we get an offer to good to refuse but I don't know why he's being compared to Gunston as he is a marking stay and home forward and Menzel is a half forward who you would hope can play midfield in a few years.

I said if he stays up forward permanently that's the prototype. He's done better than Gunston's first 2-and-a-bit seasons.

Murphy for St Kilda's second rounder and Acres. We pay 50% of Murphy's contract for 1, possibly 2 seasons.

Thoughts?

They might be physically capable of similar output, but Murphy was and is a much smarter player. More please.

I thinks it's fair to say we have a different definition of Established.

As an aside - has a strategic element to the pick in question as it limits what St Kilda can offer in relation to Bailey Rice. You can effectively add the rights to him in there too.

I'd leverage them for their first rounder and a player that genuinely will contribute to our 22 now and in the future; it wouldn't take much. If they can't manage giving up Dunstan (and they won't), then I'd want picks.

That being said, Murphy doesn't fit where they're at.

I think Acres in his third season would have the genuine attributes to accomplish as such.

....possibly, I do add in the caveat of 'fitness'..

He's versatile but he's not particularly quick and seems to need a lot more conditioning work than was originally estimated.

Would you be happy waiting another season before he can really contribute?

If the goal is 2018, I have no issues with that at all.

I just think he'd be a role player unless his work rate lifted. Likes to float in and take a grab and looks vanilla receiving off HB and going for a run.

Would need to become like Gibbs to be handy.

They should be chucking everything at us to get Murphy; Acres isn't much chop.

Trading Menzel has to be the worst opinion ever! Opposition clubs will laugh at us even more if we trade him out.

Armfield and Buckley. Both with line breaking speed, but both looking down the barrel.

Are they the same type role players ? Do both, one or none, survive the end of season cull ?
