Would play Lucas, for his faults he does provide some ball-winning and run and carry to a team that struggles in those areas. McLean has had a terrible start to the season, hopefully he can go back to the VFL and find some touch.

I don't Understand why Mick has totally snubbed off Scotland in his final year... He is a Senior player and is still Important to our team, he is far better than Mclean/Curnow/Ellard. I still rate him!!

Wasn't he injured as well during the pre-season? Thought there were more errors coming from Scotland last year and his elite kicking is a over stated. He's just as bad as most of the others when the heat is on but he certainly puts his body on the line down back. Think he'll figure in the 1's later down the track, maybe as the sub.

At this stage I'd prefer to see Buckley cement himself in the BP with Tuohy (though down on form) and Docherty off the HBF's, however the line-up is very inexperienced which the MC may not like in the back half. That would then leave a host of of running players like Walker, Thomas, Yarran, Everitt, Gibbs, Lucas, Menzel, Simpson to rotate through the wing/fwd line and back as required.

Good post BT.

I dont think the TC talk is related to Scotland replacing anyone else (Buckley included) just he's better at a lot of footy skills than McLean, Ellard and Curnow. Curnow does have a role in the team diffrent to Scotlands.

Ellard was worse than Mclean last week ... and played more game time. I just don't believe he is up to it.

Casboult should be given a chance ... especially with Kreuz out.

But then again ... how can one argue against the amazing perceptive and wise MC.

Full Steam Ahead!

"Our midfield is chock full of plodding slow mids. If they can get their running game going it will require the mids and defenders to have an outstanding defensive game. Can't see them having the tenacity and mindset to be able to absorb that kind of pressure. "

Hi Guys....can someone please tell me who the jets in the Essendon* midfield are? The Essendon* mids may monster us with size but i don't see them beating us with run....i would say our ouside players are just as fast if not faster ( not sure about skill/hardness)

Watto picked for NB's this week, not a good sign for the lad. Must mean that Hendo starts back as surely Rowe is there to help Warnock and pinch hit up fwd.

I'm getting primed for this one.

Really hoping for the glory.
Just about to watch our last outing against the Pricks.

I'm hoping we are primed for a win.

I'm quietly confident.
The talk is all Bombers, and we havent been far off it if not for our kicking at goal.

Make it count this weekend boyz.

So, not to be negative or anything,
but..it seems MM has been into a board meeting to tell them howmuch our team sucks, and how disappointed he is with the recruiting.
I'd translate that as..
yeah, I told you what you wanted to hear so you'd hire me.
I also thought I was good enough to turn around any team.
I now know I'm not, and I'm gonna blame everyone but myself.
Good on ya Mick.
Brilliant.
source of this is Connolly on SEN.
I'm sure he savoured every moment of the telling too.

I translate that as Derek Hine is coming out of contract at the end of the year and Shane Rogers might be looking elsewhere for employment.

Quote:
Carlton midfielder Brock McLean has been dropped, a week after failing to attend an AFL three-quarter-time huddle when subbed out of the game.
McLean had told the Blues he wasn't sure if he was allowed back onto the field of play during the clash with Richmond at the MCG on March 27.
Carlton coach Mick Malthouse said 143-game veteran McLean's only sin was not asking an official to clarify the rule.
But the Blues' mentor made his frustrations clear earlier this week.
"We would have liked him, as a leader, on the ground," Malthouse said.
"We've taken issue with it and we're not going to hide it.
"He came up with the reasoning and we have to accept that."

WTF is going on down there?

So...from the forward line that kicked 3.9 and 2 out of bounds (from just before 3/4 time) and effectively lost the match for the team - no forward gets dropped and nobody from the ressies was viewed as being a better option.

Nobody...

Just sayin'...

That bit on MM telling the board how much he thinks the team "sucks" - the actual term used had four letters and began with "s" and ended with "t".

The recruiting has been poor, though

Who knows. I'm not going to put a lot of stock in what Connolly says given he has a pathological hatred of MM and Carlton ......

...... and we just happen to be playing the Bumholes this week.
