Prestia is the key IMHO. When he plays against us (thankfully injury has occasionally spared us) he carves our mids up. Spreads well from the stoppage and we just let him go.
I'd like to see George put some time into him. The rest can go head to head.

And the two half backs.
35 L.Baker 7 D.Rioli 17
Stop their run and we win.

Why Lewis Young over Sam Durdin. What is Sam lacking, that sees Lewis getting a game ahead of him?

Intercept Marking.

I presumed that would be McGovern’s role now.

Was 2 off.

LOB and Pittonet out
Martin and Ed in

We’ve gone 1 smaller than I thought.

I’m surprised TDK over Pitto.

Most likely Gov plays that role if he plays loose. But Lewis is strong overhead.
If I were Vossy I would be telling the defenders to back themselves and mark the ball where possible. We don't want it on the ground with Martin and co crumbing.
I also think your selling Young short. When JW went don't last year Lewis was excellent. I think he is streets ahead of Durdin

Didn't really continue that form once JW returned

The record and 3rd highest tallies of 1 percenters in the history of the game in his first year at the Blues?

Serious question - what has Sam Durdin shown so far to make him more worthy of a game than Lewis Young?

IMHO - The 3 things that Lewis doesn’t always show me : Intensity, Aggression and Foot skills.

But having said that I trust Voss, hence why I would love to know his take.

We have no defenders that instil any fear in their opposition. I would like someone to be big and aggressive. I want to see the opposition forwards physically earn every mark they may take. Is that Sam? I think his natural game is more aggressive than Lewis, who is certainly not that sort of player.

I agree with this. Over the pre season Durdin has been more impressive.

Young does a lot of good things and has upside but also concerns me in a couple of areas you highlighted. Not concerned but Durdin very unlucky IMO

Not feeling confident- we badly lack run and carry through the midfield.

Docherty will run through there. I expect Cerra to have a massive year. Acres/Hollands out wide and we always play an extra from HF which will be Fisher/Motlop. Tigers aren't quick with Prestia Tarrant Hopper Graham.

Run from defence with Docherty Cowan Saad along with Weitering & McGovern's ball use will carve them up

Important for me is locking it inside forward 50. Owies Motlop Martin Fisher need to work hard defensively

Not concerned at all

I was wondering the same thing.

I’m the same. Young has earned that spot. It’s his to lose. You get that.

Durdin would be next in.

His time may come.

I like 3 talls in defence and I don’t consider Gov a 3rd tall against teams like Bulldogs and Demons…that’s another discussion

Run with player who can shut down and get possessions. He will be handy.

Surprised to see Ollie instead of Lob. Thought we would see how the new improved Lob would go first. And surprised to see Ed but maybe there is a specific role.
Not super confident - will miss Walsh’s run
But go blues!
