Fair point, but if Carlton is going to go down, we might as well go down fighting. Make some noise like Geelong does.

Trigg to me seems a bit weak in his dealings with the AFL.

Does the AFL truly have Carlton's best interest at heart? One must question that after the AFL Insanity Tax was introduced.

Former Unofficial Selection Committee. Nice guy. Means well, but perhaps didn't convey his message well? President would have been expecting a small Calabrian man to stand up during proceedings. They speak throughout the year.

I find the irate members (including AGRO) an interesting case study. I think there's a Kübler-Ross model happening. Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance. No one is at a wrong stage - people are just at different stages. The club has gone through these phases too. Right now I think they're in a bargaining phase - e.g... "I can change. Please give me a chance."

This is a good thing, because as a board - they were in the denial phase for a long time.

I dunno... I'm rambling. As a supporter, I personally want to get to acceptance. I'm not quite there yet - but I do know that this President and CEO are right when they invite members to call/email or have a coffee and a chat with them. That hasn't happened too often. Take advantage of it if you can. This isn't a public listed company. An AGM forum at Carlton is no longer an opportune time to air your grievances.

While the club is in a dark place - there is light at the end of the tunnel. Take a deep breath. Relax. Embrace the child-like Carlton supporter inside you. Have fun with it. Release the negative energy. Remove the anger...a lot of the stuff we were/are pent up about just doesn't matter anymore.

May everyone have a safe and happy Christmas. See you at the football in 2016. Go Blues.

Thanks Doc

Yeah Joe had an axe to grind for sure. Just doesn't do anyone any good to vent like that, was ridiculous really. Mark knew him and mentioned he takes Joe's calls often so for me the point was " Hey everyone listen to me". Didn't do anyone any good.

It would be good for people to actually ask a question nursing a Q and A and not just ramble on either blowing wind up someone's arse or trying to just pull them dow.

Personally I think we are on the right track

Merry Xmas all

From what I'm told the calls go both ways. Like Sticks - Mark tries to meet with the antagonists prior to the AGM.

Right now I think the Carlton Board in particular some of the older members like Gleeson have lost the right to be in a position to bargain.

I may no longer be "an irate" member Doc, I'm probably more "ambivalent" which from the club's point of view should be very disappointing.

That reminds me... In May, 2016 (so right around the corner) Adrian is celebrating 10 years as a board member. We should do something nice for him.

Ahmed Fahour retires as per normal rotation, after serving less than three years, when does Gleeson retire.

I think I lied, I'm not really ambivalent, I am irate.

Which is a shame because the 'long road' would be a lot shorter if there are innovators on the board and they are allowed to bring innovation into the club. That's the key for a board...it might be this board - it might be the next board, but they need to show the members how they would innovate. Show what skill-set they bring as board members and how this has direct correlation to the future direction they want to take the club in.

The board being genuinely respectful of members re their voting rights would be innovative

I'm not a member teagueyubeauty. They don't deserve my expendable income the way they they've treated members.

I feel sorry for trigg and the staff who I think are genuine.

I'm sure if you called or wrote an email as a former member and why you're not now then I'm sure you would get a reply.

Let us know how you go....

I spoke to Trigg after the forum (during which a number of times he spoke about reconnecting lapsed members) and he and his staff have personally called lapsed members. The two women he called hung up on him. They called 20 people each.

Just 20 each. Or 20 each day?

Sorry Tap , might be a stupid Question but did they answer your concerns in an appropriate manner, or were you left disenchanted after the meeting.
