game. set. match.

he had the ability to put his arm down and brace for impact, instead the player elected to hold onto the ball so as not to give away a free kick for incorrect disposial. it is the responsibility of the player to also protect himself, not that of the person who is tackling.

thank you ball girls, thank you ball boys, thank you linesmen, thank you umpire.

That's too sensible. AFL are an Amatuer organisation who will bow to media pressure.

Plus I really doubt that carlton are professional enough to find this footage

Tribunal will just say it was too rough and reckless whether his arms were pinned or not.

Good for Gibbs all the same. Would be happy if he or Murph get done for a couple more "too rough" type incidents this season.

I thought Carrazzo almost stuffed it up by putting the cue in the rack when we had that free in the centre, about 2 mins to go. We had them on the hop and could well have scored if we had used it right.
Instead we put the cue in the rack and forfeited possession to Port in their forward line where we just hung on.

Probably the only tackle Gibbs has laid with any intent this season and he gets rubbed out...

Honestly we have Cripps and Murph if we could trade him for either a high first round pick or a GWS player on the market you'd do it in a heartbeat.

Treloar for Gibbs i'll take it.

Cripps, Treloar, Murph, Graham i'll take it.

Always been a gray area of the rules.

Have to appeal now, there's an onus on the player being tackled also. Failed to use his unpinned arm to protect himself instead wanting to hold onto the ball.

Did the tribunal say anything about having his armed pinged.
I reckon they have it covered by calling it rough conduct.

You can still argue quite easily that the outcome would have been way different..... You know, like a bloody good tackle!!!!

Agree. Watched it on YouTube and thought he had his other hand. Crap luck but oh well that's the way it goes. A chance for someone else to step up.

Clearly had Gray's left forearm pinned and anyone that thinks he didn't is just letting bias get in the way.

Absolutely no problem with the suspension. Gibbs could have buckled at the knees and pulled him to the ground but elected to go the forceful sling. I'm glad he did it because it showed intent. Plenty of our other boys did it on the weekend as well and it's a big reason we intimidated them and won the match. Can't complain about one of them causing injury and leading to a suspension.

Gibbs will benefit from the break. The padding at the base of his back on Saturday was ridiculous. Looked like a huge heat bag.

Lets say Gray got his arm out, stopped his head from hitting the ground but dislocated his shoulder in the process, would Gibbs get cited for rough conduct? If not what is the difference?
