Just back to the game for a minute. We were sitting slightly right of the cheer squad at the city end. Defence absorbed a hell of a lot of pressure in the first quarter. If Richmond were any good, they should have been six goals up they had that many more inside 50's. I'm starting to think there's something to this rope-a-dope thing. Ideally you don't want to be playing catch up, but you've got to start to admire the never say die attitude that we seem to be developing and our ability to run games out.

Big kudos to Juddy, the birthday boy, dragged the team up in the third, lots thought he wouldn't make it through the game, ended up bog. Big efforts from a number of others, quite a few of whom had bugger all possies up to half time.

First week down, looking forward to Saturday night. A better start and who knows!!??

Go Blues

I would love to see the running stats of Curnow. When watching it on tv he rarely off camera. Worth 2 players I reckon. Makes mistakes but his running and the amount of contests he gets too is unbelievably handy over the course of the whole game.

This.
Two out of bounds kicks does not diminish the great job he does.

Definitely a keeper.

Besides the Guiness reference I'm deadly serious. This will go down as the game where team and coach came eye to eye. The players saw MM's skills in a final and MM found he had enough players who could play finals.

Maybe this 'absorb the punishment then cut loose' gamestyle is deliberate. It makes sense to play that way if you're a few mids short of a full rotation, and a key mid in Murphy is playing off no preseason.

Perhaps they're working with what they've got?

Great win

In the last quarter, while Vickery was whispering sweet nothings in Walkers ear over a free kick, did we take the ball down field and kick a goal?

Pros:

The Leadership group. Terrific effort collectively. Best we've seen this year.
We managed to win fairly easily in the end, although we had a lot of players who didn't contribute much.
Nice to be on the right side of the goalkicking ratio for once.
Competitiveness and hard running at the end.
Warnock was outstanding. As was Judd.
Liked the games of Betts, Robbo and Bell.

Cons:

How many umpire assisted goals did Richmond get?
Having to chase from behind again.

Wasn't it sweet. HTB & turnover.

So we did get a goal directly from that play? Bit hazy atm

Still buzzing. One of the great wins.

How loud was it at the ground.

Mad cauliflower Robbo 17 second half possessions.

Duigs hard and tough as well, a career saving 4.0 big pressure goals

Gibbsy is in the middle to stay.

The Champ, knee bandaged to the hilt, hasn't run for 4 weeks, just turned it for us in the third. Led from the front, calmed down Belly when he stuffed up, even got the boys in a huddle after the siren and gave them a pep.

Still hoarse, caused largely by those four opposition 50 metre penalties, and that howler of a gift goal to Edwards against Walker for "holding"

@#$%&! you Richmond you are soft

Absolutely. Obviously. Swans. Gartlett (sure he said it again today).

I want BG72 to come out and renounce Roosy now. The guy is a cock. As above.

Will be awesome to hear his commentary next week if we roll the swans!

Glad I got a haircut a week ago, considering the barber goes for Richmond.

Will be appearing at his shopfront window sometime during the week though.

Straight kicking!

Same scoring shots as Bitchmond, but a well deserved 20 point victory.

Been the story of our year... Straight kicking and we've won, shit kicking and we've lost.

Duigan all important in that with 4 goals straight. Did he grow the mo to curry favor with Mick and get back into the side?

Always been a fan of his for the tough, hard at it attitude he brings - along with Bell and Robinson. Sure, they all have their clanger moments, but the positives outweigh the negatives.

Last two weeks Eddie Betts has shown his elite skills. Full marks to Old Man Judd, Murph, Gibbs and Jamo for great games too.

And lastly, Dank you very much to James Hird. Haven't jumped around so much at a game for ages. Was really a Grand Final atmosphere and will be great experience for our boys moving forward.

P.S. @#$%&! the umpires!
