How are you involved internally?

Well, it's a bit rich to make these comments about how the culture of the club has improved, or that Waite was told off internally, when you're no more involved "internally" than anyone you say "unless you're involved internally, we don't know" to. Honestly, comes across as being condescending and that you know better than Kahuna, when in reality, you know just as much as the rest of us.

Besides, I reckon AFL clubs are as simplistic and archaic as the next institution going around.

Not sure culture round the club has changed - hope it has but not much tangible eveidence of it yet - best two forwards waite and betts after missing significant games with injury get suspended for stupid acts - we lose to stkilda in inglorious fashion in a similar way as to PA and GC last year where hallmark of performance is lack of grunt persistence and energy - we lack on-field leadership - continue to be bullied by Geelong and Collingwood when we play them

Yep, agree. Have not really seen much of a change at the club this year to be honest. Maybe training, facilities etc has changed, but same old on the field.

What more do we want to do to Waite? Public flogging maybe?

He's been fined. He' sorry. Enough.

Which team has the best culture in the AFL probably the swans and what do they publicly say about last week when they lost - Jude Boulton - says we were pretty soft !

What do we say -injuries caused lack of rotation- blah blah blah whereas apart from Melbourne the epithet SOFT was particularly apt for our insipid performance last week -yet no one at Carlton wants to acknowledge it

On Tuesday, fellow leader Simpson revealed Waite had apologised to his teammates and had vowed that he would never again be so undisciplined. Murphy also trusts that will be the case.

"He's paid a price. Mick got into him, and so did the leadership group. We told him it's really not acceptable. Waitey knew that as soon as he did it, so he took that on board," Murphy said.

"He's putting things in place to make sure it doesn’t happen again. He'll learn from that. Hopefully this'll be the end of it.

so really, we all agree it was stupid, and just bickering over what action should/has been taken.

Etihad is a stadium we just can't seem to get right playing at.

If we go by the rule that those cut are named on the bench... Bootsma, Menzel, Bell, Hampson, Rowe, Joseph and Cachia are up for the chop. Plus possibly a late inclusion for Jamison.

With that in mind, I reckon Joseph, Menzel, Bell and Hampson will get the nod... Rowe, Bootsma and Cachia to be the emergencies.

Bootsma to come in if Jamison is unable to play (with White playing the predominant FB role).

I reckon the three reasons for last week's loss were, in order:

- Rotation system stuffed from 10 minutes into the first quarter.
- No forward line pressure when the ball went in there. Saints continuously cleared with ease.
- Allowing their spare tall to continuously mark in our F50.

Change two of those three things and we would have won the game. One couldn't be changed, two and three could. Our ineffectual forward line last week cost the game. Part of that is fixed this week, part of it is removed, but it has to be the focus.

When we cause stoppages and turnovers in our forward half we win. No Yarran, no Betts is going to cause a re-think on how to lock the ball in because we looked mighty slow when they had the ball coming out.

thank goodness for our 3 weapons then...

Sometimes you need to go a step backwards before you can go forward.

Pretty sure Adam Goodes gets automatic inclusion no matter how many times he slides in with feet or knees...

OK so we're composing goodes with Waite now and how they go about contributing for their clubs????.

( can my wannabe ghostwriter add or subtract the relevant question marks as he sees fit please??????

The problem is leadership.
The leadership group should add another week on waites
Suspension and prove to waite and anybody else they won't stand for it.

Ryder copped more but he wasn't rushed straight back in when his penalty was served.

Any idea why?

I see no evidence of our culture having improved ... it doesn't happen over the course of 7 weeks but hopefully by the end of MM's reign he will have that as his lasting legacy ... along with #17.

The sad part is that St Kilda have a better on-field culture than us ... yes that poor pathetic excuse ofr a club that's only won one flag ... and it's been going on for 10 years now. With the players they had missing on Monday, they were quite entitled to settle for a dignified loss. Instead they came out to play, roughed us up form the opening and even when we had all our fit players, we didn't look interested. Instead, we played for a quarter and a half and almost won the game ... exactly the same as round one. It's the same mindset that has prevented us from stringing more than 4 wins together for a long time.

Not sure about Ryder but another issue is that the leadership group doesnt appear solidified enough to make such decisions, Duigan cant get a game, Simpson is struggling to avoid being dropped and the subject is himself a member of that same leadership group. strange situation

Having a look at the PA side it is very similar to the Saints in terms of mobility. Not a big defence or forward line and rely on ball use, rotations and speed and spread.

Goal in defence is to get ball to ground and run out. A lot of attack is actually generated from defensive 50. We have been too slow to react.

Based on what we have selected I believe we need to line up like this:

B: Robinson White Bootsma
HB: Walker Rowe Tuohy
Scotland

Foll: Warnock Judd Murphy
C: Lucas McLean Armfield

HF: Bell Henderson Menzel
F: Garlett Waite

Int: Kruezer Curnow Cachia (Simpson)
