We left McLean on the bench too long. Should've eased him into the game half way through the third, not cop the full force of an onslaught as soon as the quarter started. Who got subbed off anyway? Surprised it wasn't Davies. Would be happy not to see him play a game in the seniors again unfortunately.

Murph hasn't been himself since being made captain.
Funnily enough, neither have Simmo or Carrots. Three super players for us, all NQR.
Now why is that? Is something up?
How can Simmo suddenly be no good, as suggested..I think by you Rhino?
I don't believe that. They should all be fit too. Maybe it's transitioning into the new plan.
I hope the new coach can bring out the best in all our players.
Not just make a show of trying to create silk purses from players like Davies/White etc.
I noticed MM was soo excited he said to be able to showcase (eg:) Davies...on the big stage.

I don't get why Brock was sub. Also don't get why Laids didn't play last week..(is he actually injured or recovering?)and also why Duigs didn't get a chance to redeem himself yesterday. I think he's shown plenty in the past, and works well with the other regular backs.

Not sticking tackles. We were great at this for awhile. Did we sack the tackling coach?

That's because they run up and down the whole !@#$%^& ground for 3 quarters like under 9's.

What game plan and structure are we playing here.

We need forward focal points.

We need links.

We need forwards leading from the square and we need to attack through the middle of the ground.

We need accountability.

We don't need a sweeper, or zone or flood or any other pathetic soccer/basketball game plan.

We need to play footy and teach these players how to play as a team and not selfish self centered arrogant millionaires.

and for god sake someone teach them how to kick to their team mates advantage and in front of a leading player.

A very solid game. However, I was waiting for Gibbs and Murphy to stand up in the last quarter. THey needed to take it by the scruff of the neck.

Unfortunately our bottom 6 players are poor and are horrible when the pressure is on. They look much better when Judd, Murphy and Gibbs take the game on. THose 3 went missing for the first 10 min of the last quarter.

I really hope this isn't Allan/Beaumont/Whitnall/Manton all over again. Mick dropping his game plan of 20 years after a half of real football is bloody strange.

I got it when they started tagging him without Murphy/Carrazzo being out there. Now no-one puts any time into him. Very rarely gets any touches back of centre, doesn't run and carry, 15m chip passes, etc. I'm not sure where he fits in at the moment.

I don't mind the idea. It's just disappointing as shit that none of them have shown anything remotely resembling justifying the opportunity.

Looked slow as shit in the first three quarters against Richmond, ran them off their feet in the last. Doesn't get any quicker, doesn't get any slower either.

Looks horribly underdone still.

Don't see where a match up was there for him. Reckon he'll be back this week.

Yeah, I hope so Rhino.
It does hurt when you see the newer players for the Pies put in some amazing performances.
I guess the recruiting problems have been discussed at length. I know we had no money for this year.
I have great faith in Simmo. actually in Duigs too.
Fair enough on Laids. Wasn't sure if unfit or injury.

Yep, I wondered if he has a disease as no one wanted to go near him, I would have expected the coach to address that problem.

It seems like same shit different day, we cannot play four quarters of football, it doesn't matter wether we win or lose we never play four quarters of football, until we are prepared to go the whole journey it wouldn't matter if Jesus Christ or Chuck Norris were coaching us we will not close the gap against committed sides.

I hate to say this because Gibbs has been looking great this year; but; he stopped as though shot a few times today when confronted by an opponent who wanted the ball more than him.

It was embarrassing to watch.......

He doesn't seem to mind putting in the short steps occasionally, but that is another example of lack of commitment, he can go hard we've all seen him do it, until they can get inside these guys heads this mental fragility is going to continue and we will keep only playing bits and pieces of games.

Last 10 minutes? It was the last 4 minutes that the game was still in the balance when Lucas wobbled through to make it a one goal to win ball game.

My tip pre game was Pies by 35. No Betts and I think Collingwood are a far better oiled machine than us. Yet we stuck it to them and really could have won the game. Should have? Possibly!

I don't believe umpiring was favorable to either team and over all not horrendous there was a missed head high on Murphy - 2nd time in two weeks, do they have something against him? Also the in the back rule both was is a farce. They pay for what they think might have happened, not what actually happened and it makes me angry it occurs. There were three goals second half we allowed them to have because we turned it over in the centre of the ground (an Armfield handpass which was basically a hand off to a Collingwood player was the most glaring). Then in the last quarter Armfield's effort at the boundary line (he had to see it out) were what cost a victory.

I'm not sure how Walker can open the game with 3 goals and then not contribute thereafter although after his head clash maybe he wasn't quite right.

Garlett had his best game of his career and he should be told that's the effort required every week with or without Betts. Kreuzer was good, Judd, Murphy and Gibbs did what they could. I thought Lucas' game was the best he's done and I thought he was lucky to be in the side this week but we can assume he's a lock in the 22 for the forseeable future.

Casboult is interesting. Do you keep him or Rowe. Hampson comes in for one of them and it's probably Rowe.

This team can beat Geelong next week. Worrying signs aren't there yet. Remember we beat the Pies by 10 goals in this fixture last year and look how both teams finished up.

It's about the longer journey. I predicted a 0-4 start for Carlton. New coach, game style and against 3 quality teams and a team that wants to beat you probably more than anyone else (Richmond). The writing was on the wall.

Not good enough.

Bottom 5 or 6 gave us nothing.

Half a dozen hbfers on the list and none of them any good.

Will win some games this year but not enough to make the 8. [/s]

Yep. How Ratten made finals 3 years in a row with such a terrible list is mind boggling.
He must be a freak.

Mind boggling hey.

Guys mm will need 12 months to fix game style up from rattens mess

Rubbish. If he was any good we would already be seeing at least a glimpse of what he is trying to achieve. So far all out attacking shootouts is all i see and we could do that less mediocre with Ratts at the helm.

He needs time if you don't understand that then god help you

hahaha no according to club malthouse must inherit ratts list and win a flag... but ratten needed more years to win 2 eiminational finals[/quote]

Synbad how could Ratten have hoped to ever succeed with the Sticks as the president and current board, how can mm succeed with the current president and board?

You are dreaming if you think changing the coach will get us a premiership.

MM is not the messiah!

I think Mick's best move so far, was trying to poach Lingy at the end of his interview with him.
