West Coast are a darned good side. Have been all year.
They are undersogs too...in the wider scheme of things...so will be just as determined as we are.

Happened to hear a bit of Nicoski’s regular FM radio spot this morning.

Following on from Waters yesterday, he is the second player to come out publicly and basically say that their pressure and intensity will shut us down.

According to him, Essendon* only matched us in that regard for a quarter and that is reflective of a side in the lower echelon of the top 8. The difference with an upper echelon side is that pressure and intensity will hold for 4 quarters.

Wouldn’t say he was arrogant but it would appear clear that they well and truly believe they’ve got the personnel and game style to shut us down.

While they’ll be formidable opposition, especially at Subi, the game plan for us would appear simple imho:

- Be first to the ball.
- Exceed their intensity.
- Outwork them.
- Convert our chances, especially early.
- Run, run and run.

- Support Judd. Poor bugger can't go another game piggy-backing an opponent all over the field.

Let's remember Robbo was out of the midfield rotation on the weekend. I'd think he and 1AW could cover Gibbos midfield contribution easily. It's the forward contribution that will need some thinking.
Could the lobster be a chance?

I think Kerr's form isn't as good as what it was say a month ago. He'd be a chance, but a slim one considering the recent performances of Tuohy & Lucas. However, if he's delisted this year, I will be livid.

I am kind of glad that they are so confident. It shows the kind of pressure & expectation they are under over here & I Am not sure how some of their younger boys will handle it.

I reckon the siege mentality suits our group who like to go about it quietly and let the talkers talk. They mugged us earlier this year but I don't believe for a second that they are a better team than us.

If the boys are ok mentally I think we can pinch it. If we can be within a few goals at 3 qt time we will have the legs to bring it home given our easier game last week.

They were confident last time around too. Fact of the matter is we do have some weaknesses (particularly psychologically) and it seems they, like a few other teams, know how to play on them.

Prior to round 14, we had them the previous few times we have played them [albeit the games were in Melbourne]. We were missing quite a few personnel on the day [pretty much our backline], so not convinced that we have a mental weakness against them Jimmy.

ROBBO!

THE most intense UNIT in AFL. He is the glue that binds this team together.

I must be fooling myself, because I swear we are a better side now than we were last year.

And keep talking yourselves up Eagles.

The article says he was told to keep a low profile, which could mean that the injury he has is more than pure speculation. If he plays, I'd expect him to be sore and underdone. Add to that Cox and Kerr under injury clouds, definite starters though.

Really starting to fancy our chances with this one.

Glass is struggling with a groin and NicNat is very sore apparently. We need Setanta to jump into NicNat's legs at every opportunity.

Essendon* went in with a bunch of underdone players and got done.

Given WCE had to have a road trip in week 1 and copped a bruising encounter from Collingwood (whereas Carlton had a relatively bruise free encounter), we'd have to be fresher, especially after a Bye 3 weeks ago.

Are you sure it isn't Cox 'ucker' that's struggling with a groin?
