To turn up not switched on after Hawthorn were lambasted in the media is pretty poor. If Hawthorn turn up to play they have the side on paper to beat anyone. We have to be prepared.

Hemderson getting 3 is one of the few consulations.

Agreed.

We need to work on our mental strength and our ability to back up week after week.

I really hate the fact that we seem to play poor performing sides/players into form.

Perhaps we really are too soft when it really matters.

The thing is, Ratts and the boys know this and yet still it happens. Makes it even worse.

We've been that pathetic it's the sort of loss that can derail a season.

Let's hope not but totally devastated at the moment.

Tough call there mate. We have some key players out, we have to toughen up a no doubt but a few players have been up and the close scrutiny these days makes it tough. Time we got with the big boys!

Maybe mate. But you gotta have heart to compete with the big boys. We've shown nothing today.

Seriously everyone on this chat... the blues are not thast good... we beat a very very down cats and saints but when it comes to teams who play good we get found out. Lets get real here!

Setanta and his mates zero this week. Setanta's been good but the trouble with a couple of them they are flashy and brilliant, like Doughnuts from Collingwood, but I worry whether they all will be able to stand up under the stick. Time will tell on that.

lets watch that tomorrow at training - poke each other in the eyes repeatedly for half an hour - have a swim and then put it to bed and come out next week with some @#$%&! intensity and desire

Na, when we're on we can beat anybody. I reckon we MADE the Cats and Aints look bad because we were so good. And to win 2 games at AAMI was a good effort. The trouble is the gap between our good and bad, and injuries are now mounting which doesn't help.

Hawthorn have been terrible this season so it's not a matter of coming up against a team who "play good". We simply haven't looked switched on from the first bounce, this is one of those games where the result is obvious half-way through the first quarter. Carlton were never going to recover from the malaise that set in, and once Hawthorn got 3-4 goals up there was no indication that the Blues would be able to spark a revival.

Inconcistency is a hallmark of youth.

We can beat any team in the world on our day.

With age, and experience will come ability to excel concistently.

The most important thing is for each of us (players, coaches, and supportes) to learn from the losses.

A day will come, probably soon, when we can no longer use this as an excuse.

A two man bench will do that to you.

Let's get real, sides are down often because their opposition plays well. We were brilliant against Geelong and St.Kilda, that's why they were down. Problem is though we have to switch on every week. That's what hurts us the most. Consistency kills us of effort kills us.

We went through a mighty hard draw, come out 5-3, a great result, and as soon as we get a so-called easier game, we have a huge mental lapse and pay the price. Think we did everything wrong imaginable today. Today brought the great work to get to 5-3 undone.

I'd love nothing more than for the boys to be driven into the mud at training this week. But I'm afraid their timid, brittle bodies might actually snap in half.

Back to the topic, we should really beat the hawks if we don’t all the work over the past 5 weeks is wasted!

I was expecting this by the blues, this will be hard to make an impact in the final this year. We rally have nit beaten a team at the top of their game. We should all go back to the "sack ratten dicussion" agreed?

I prefer to think of it as lulling them into a false sense of security.
