They've actually removed a lot of players I despise the most.

I'll have to focus on Stanton now...

I was hoping they would bring in Bewick or Denham so I could really get fired up.

Reimers is the one this week. Pure unadulterated scum.

Bloody hell how could I forget him???

:yikes:

in all seriousness this has to be the weakest Essendon* side of all time.. There is nothing there that should scare us. Complacency is the only thing that can beat us..

Also i wonder who's arm Welsh will be holding this week..Last years game on Judd was without doubt the most blatant scragging i have ever seen. Hopefully the umps pick that up this time around..Dont like our chances though.

The only thing Ess have got going well this season is their defense. Hooker and Pears are decent and Fletcher is always good. We need to keep Peaches/Lychees/Pears away from the play.

ps: AJ on Winderlich

I think Feltcher is past it this season from what I've seen. Game has finally gone past him and he is looking slow in reaction and disposal. I think if we play though his man (Now that we have realised we can use other leading targets) we can expose him as the weakest link.

AJ on Winderlich is a good matchup also, his speed and run can cause us issues also.

Brock v Watson
Carrots v Stanton
and I get the feeling Houlihan will play a defensive half forward role on Dempsey.

Matthew Knights will never die wondering will he? That is some major change to a side's structure in a one week period. They are clearly loading up on pace to try to run over the top of us.

I don't blame them for trying, it has been very successful in the past. Their side kind of reminds me of their team against Adelaide in the finals last year, where they made the bizzare decision to play without a ruckman.

There decision to go all out pace attack backfired spectacularly then, and I hope there is the same result on Sat nite. Quite frankly I am a little afraid for a few of our posters, particuarly Donstuie if we can't stop the losing streak against this mob.

Hopefully our boys are up for the challenge! And good luck to Kane on his debut, I hope he plays with the same enthusiasm as when he first arrived at the club.

GO BLUES!!!!

Good luck to Kane Lucas. Let's see this guy in action.

Good luck to Joe Anderson in the VFL but please stay there.

don't underestimate the bombers.

when the match ups are considered the game looks a lot more even.

a key factor for them will be the ability of Hillle to deliver this week. After 2 games in, after a limited pre-season he maybe ready to step up. This allows Ryder to play as a ruck rover/forward which pressure our balance given no Bower.

nontheless, we should be absolutely primed and 'on' - this is a must win!

Looking at the teams, we should smash them. Besides the events of the past 2 years, there is no reason they can beat us.

I'm declaring this game, my "Lock of the Week".

If we don't beat the Bombers on Saturday night, then we never will. This is our best chance in a while to knock them off. By the way, I love the way that the club have somewhat downplayed all the hype going into this week. We're better off without it.

Before Knights goes on about his "young Essendon* side" lets clarify something.
Ave age both 23.7.
Ave games played 73 Carlton, 71 Essendon*.
Almost identical.

Swanny said on SEN that Scotland trained all of this week and also this morning. Said unless he had broken down today, he is not aware of any injuries to Scotland.

Edited for accuracy

We should win, but any win will do. They will come out with a nothing to lose attitude, playing the under-dog tag like they have the past 2 years against us. They have enough players in their side (Watson, Hille, Winderlich, Ryder, Stanton, Pears, Hooker, Lovett-Murray, Gumby, Williams) to cause us problems if they play well and we don't.

Yep, the more I consider things the more confident I am we'll have a comfortable victory.

Sit back and enjoy! :smoking:

not so sure about this whole 'keeping a lid on the hype this year" thing.
we lost against the bombers but i don't think was because we overhyped it. if anything, they won b/c they were more hyped and ready to fire while we weren't.
and, if that argument carries any weight, then it is precisely this hype which propelled us over the top of collingwood twice.

no, we lost to the bombers b/c we underestimated them and they wanted it more.
we beat collingwood b/c we wanted it more.

focusing-on-not-focusing-on-the-hype is still being affected by the significance of the carl v ess history, albeit in a different way.
