Forget about 'captain material' and 'leading us to a premiership'... He needs to prove that he is worth his money and better than the likes of AJ and armfield, would would be polling similar votes but would be on about a third as much dough.

Gibbs must of read this .... ..... owned

I'd be looking for the delete button if I was chelodina.

Joel Selwood's best is 42 possessions and 1 goal. He just got demoted.

Something that caught my attention was he said he was hoping to increase his out put

Does that mean he was coasting for most of this year[/quote]

Well he might have been

come on Verbs even you have to admit it seems odd that after he signed for two more years he said he hopefully can increase his out put and then go out and have career best 45 disposals

Nothing Suss here

If that's your interpretation of things, I can't help you. Good luck though.

Ive said a year or two ago that Gibbs is destined for a medal - either norm smith or Brownlow - I think it will be a Brownlow but I cant be sure..

Bryce's comments about his output - and then todays effort is a indeed sign of things to come..

If this is how he'll play after signing a contract, I hope the MC and Club are sending the printing press into overdrive with some blank contracts

'Bryce it's Thursday, time to sign your contract again'

So the fact that Worsfold decided to leave Gibbs completely unmarked in the back half all game long had nothing to do with him racking up the stats... instead, it was because he's been coasting all season and just now decided to put in 100%?

Weird theory.

Numbers of possessions are almost meaningless now, anyway.

He had 8 opponents during the match. He just smashed them all.

Brett Ratten:
''Gibbs was allowed the freedom and utilised it magnificently. He's a smart player and he uses the ball so well."

Bryce Gibbs:
'I was playing spare in defence, so you get a bit of junk footy at times."

John Worsfold:
''In the second half he managed to get himself loose a fair bit, but that probably worked in our favour more than anything. Not so much him getting as much of the ball, but we went in at half-time, I think, maybe 24 points down and lost by another five in the second half. The game was a lot more even, allowing him to have that the way we wanted to play it,''

Doesn't sound like the game of a defender who had to play tight on 8 opponents, to me.

Well done Gibbsy

You would have to say he is in the top 5 players at the club, so about 400k a year you would expect. You are also paying for a bit of potential in that contract aswell. He appears to be a future brownlow medalist one day if he puts it all together.

He could get a lot more at the goldcoast or west sydney.

Key is second half though John, I don't think Gibbs was unmarked all game. They tried a few things on him in the first half, including a defensive forward in Waters at times. The Eagles were happy to use Waters as a spare man in defence (where he was reasonably effective) in the second half and let Gibbs go free. Gibbsy also spent a little time as part of the midfield rotation later in the game. I think that is why Ratts marked Gibbs down a bit, because his defensive positioning probably wasn't perfect in the second half, although his ball use was pretty good IMO. I totally agree that the coasting theory is bogus though.

I love the negative posts and dissecting his performance of his last game to facilitate whether he should be getting paid.

Whether or not you think he deserves 400 k, if you offered him 300k a year, then i'm sure he would consider GC. Who would probably offer him 800 k a season and we lose a 2-300 game player.

If Joel Selwood gets 450 a year, then l think he should be on about the same.

Warnock is on 300-350k a year lol

LeCras was also manning up on Gibbs in the 3rd qtr when he was playing loose. Following him at times as he went further upfield too.

Smart play from Ratts or Gibbs. Whoever made the call to take LeCras upfield when it was clear he was going to follow Gibbs.

You would hope he was getting paid Golz or he will be off to GC for sure contract or not

Did you mean 300k extra?

I think the dissecting of his performance at least on my part was more a general game specific thing rather than just about his contract...Although Sydney does seem suss about it all
