On the up side..
A fresh rested Judd could be the key when we get back in to september next year.
The no.1 picks will be bigger,storonger,older,wiser...we'll have Waitey and Warnock there...and Haddles..Stevo relishes it when Judd is not there..(if he plays on)..I think this could be a huge bonus for us actually.
The Carlton car warms up in 1st 3 weeks, then the Captain comes in and we hit overdrive.
Cunning plan Juddy.
You got rid of Ruddster
You got rid of that stupid pedestal
You got yourself a nice mongrel tag.
genius.
(bluegirl72...spin doctor.)

Oh well. At least this means he'll probably play all of the pre-season, so we'll probably win another stupid cup or wok or whatever it is they give out now.

I can understand Juddy wanting to contest and clear his name. But the club was pretty effing stupid in letting him do that. Anyone else get the feeling that the football department is so in awe of Judd that they'd find it hard to put their foot down on an issue like this? Or did they all genuinely think they were a good chance to get him off???

The whole thing just seems bizarre, and a bit surreal. Bloody bloody lucky we're not playing finals this week; can you imagine the fallout from this if we were? :yikes:

Ultimately though, having Judd out until round 4 shouldn't affect our season too much. We'll have the whole summer to figure out how to play without him, and maybe it'll put a bit of heat on some of the other boys to do it for themselves. Who knows, it may turn out to be a positive in the end (trying hard to stay upbeat here).

Chances are we will play Richmond 1st round so he wont be needed and with a little luck they will schedule Sydney and Adelaide the next two and he wont be missed as he is next to useless when we play them any way

dumb act deserved what he got - should never appealed that was even dumber

As much as I hate the fact that we challenged and have lost Judd for 3 weeks, I am more concerned at supporters thinking that this means an automatic 0-3 start to the season. If we are this reliant on him then we really haven't come along very far as a club at all.

All we have to go on is what we saw in 2009. Statistics have shown that more goals are kicked against us when Judd is off the field then when he is on. Even when he is not on song, his presence is usally enough to motivate the team. So going by that I too reckon we will be 0-3.

BUT, this will be a good sign to see whats installed for 2010 if the boys can pick up a couple of wins without Judd.

It's pretty much been said already, but it’s the off-field actions since the game that have been most alarming IMO.

Judd’s on-field actions were dumb enough as it was. But the airport interview, the decision to go to the tribunal and then the defence that the airport interview was just a joke simply beggar belief! That anyone of apparently sane mind could actually stand in front of the tribunal and say that is astounding.

It’s just a massive, massive WTF moment. With any luck there will be two big finals played in a few days and the meedyah will move on.
In the wash up, though, the club needs to do a bit of inward looking to en sure that if another player does something stupid on the field that we don’t act even more stupid in the follow up.

Yep. I'm amazed at how poorly this has been handled. Its gone from bad to worse on the embarrassment scale.

Did the club even consider the impact of Judd missing 3 games early next year on the m'ship drive? We are still a very dumb club in some ways. Most won't like this but Essendon* is a smarter club than us right now....and will be up the top before us.

Welcome back Melvey

A farce from start to finish.
What judd did was dumb on the field but you excuse him for it becauseit is an emotional game.
What happened afterwards with Judd and our pres and his cohorts was even dumber

What's the downside of an appeal?

They will need some super duper video evidence or get Richitelli to come to the hearing to state nothing happened -(maybe photos of Richitelli's face? ... video link? )otherwise I can't see anything changing. Minimum he will get is 2 weeks due to media furore.

Spot on CB. I would have thought there would be someone at the club willing to tell Juddy that being stupid twice was enough. Who on earth decided to appeal.
