I really like this Cazz but what about putting Cloke in over Hampson? I am a huge fan of Hammer but, depending on how the pre-season goes, I think we should see how Cloke manages at CHF. Needs to work on his movement around the ground but I think he has the hunger to make it. It's just a question of talent.

I like the thinking with Bower to CHB and Waite to CHF but I think Bower's at least a year away from that sort of responsibility in defence, mostly due to body strength.

Did you see Bowers last quarter against Brisbane last year against Bradshaw? Early on in the season he also played on Travis Cloke and beat him comfortably. There is nothing wrong with his body strength.
He just needs to be injury free.

How about the Job he did on Buddy... I know buddy got 4 goals, but for the amount of deliveries buddy received Bower beat him.

I reckon Bower's stronger than Waite! He looks bigger too. He's not finished filling out, but he has a good mix of strength and mobility. He can do some of those roles against a wide variety of players.

That's the strength of this young group of defenders - they're versatile!

I think Ratts would probably have Thornton in his side.

With the continued development/improvement of Jamison Bower Waite Anderson Austin Grigg and a fit Setanta added to the recent inclusions of Armfield O'Keeffe Johnson, I can't see Tbird being a first 22er much longer.

IMO, Tbird is not strong enough in one on one contests and is too slow when in possession of the footy. Just an average player that would be a handy depth player.

I've never met a weak deep sea fisherman.

The last time I spoke with Bower we talked about the thrill of catching big fish; it's a passionof his. He's done it with his mates since they were kids.

I agree with you woof. Bower is a strong boy.

Don't look at his age, look at his performances against the big bodies.

IMO, if Setanta isn't fit enough to play against the monsters, Bower (not Waite) is next in line to do the job.

I can't wait to see what will become of him after the next 4 months....bigger and stronger...and he'll always be mobile. He's a bit of a freak, who gave our very own bigger bodied JK (now WCE) a run for his money playing at CHB in the Under 18's.

Bower was named Under 18 AA CHB 3 years ago. He is coming into his 3rd year of senior footy, and he will take the footy world by surprise in 2009.

I agree - if you look at Bower closely he looks really broad across the shoulders - there is a bit more beef to go on that frame yet.

He reminds me (physically) of Jon Dorotich - Bower is more mobile and skilful. I think he is capable of holding down CHB for quite a few years - no problem at all. :-D

Big burn out factor coming this year for the ruckman as there will be four boundry umps- I can see Warnock Kruezer and either cloke or Hampson getting selected every week .

If your not running with 2 to 3 ruckman this year you will begin to struggle

Agree. And the successful clubs will have EACH of these ruckman capable of going forward and kicking goals, or at the very least, helping create contests to allow crumbers to capatilise.

The difference between Pauly B and Doro, is that young Pauly can't get a copy of the Truth newspaper anymore and wouldn't park in broad daylight in the middle of Carlton "allegedly" jerking his wobbygong! :P

I like Cazz's team the best so far.
Although, it will be interesting to see how Johnson (if we get him), Robinson & Setanta go - this could alter the mix.

I think it is going to get harder for Army & Browne - I know they have a lot of fans on this site but they will be competing with Carrazzo, Scotland, Simpson & Russell (& Banno). Will be interesting to watch how it unfolds.
Similarly, with Fisher & Cloke.
Betts, too, will need to become more of a 4qtr contributor with Yarran capable of the freakish stuff too.

Perhaps it's time to give Aussie the opportunity we drafted him for.
He can swap with Waite during the game if need be. Needs more senior game time and experience.

Setanta as a tall defensive option.

On paper, that is a very exciting young line up with plenty of backup depth waiting for injury.
