Golly-gee I agree with the entire assessment perhaps the only iffy one would be Jeffy.
Even then if we got offered something good?????? I wouldn't be against it.
Glad you have listed McCarthy and Mitchell because many others don't get it that they have had their chances despite injuries.
Nearly all of our young players do not show form in the VFL. If you have "something" you will showcase it (even glimpses) at the lesser level even if you are inexperienced.
I can't wait until draft day! Just give me some hardness, a determination to win and some top shelf kicking skills.

I'd add Gibbs to the shop around list. McCarthy I'd maybe rookie if possible, and O'Keeffe is either promoted or delisted, as apparently he's used up his time on the rookie list. I've always been a fan but after 5 years and more injuries than most guys get in a career it'll hardly be a shock if he gets the chop.

I'd delist Rowe and I'd try to get something for Waite.
Jeffy is a keeper IMO.

A bit late to de-list Rowe now, isn't it?

Waite's with us and we'll be glad he is.

Garlett? I hope so. Hasn't done himself any favours in recent weeks though.

He's had a dozen years to turn himself into a consistently valuable footballer.
That ship has well and truly sailed. I'd offer him up and get what we can. Its time to let Hendo and another youngster become our long term forwards. You cant be preaching discipline and consistent effort to your youngsters when one of your team leaders is the worst offender in both respects.

As for defence? We saw last week what happens when he has to play on a man.

McCarthy hasn't really had the chance to show anything this year. Paddy played just seven games and never got going due to injury.

Will make a mockery of our desire to draft young KPP and players if we cut them after three seasons.

Here's my go at it. I figure if I shoot my mouth off Id better have a crack others can dissect. Thanks to Gro for the list. I copied that bit of it.

1 Andrew Walker - Keep
2 Troy Menzel - Keep
3 Marc Murphy - Keep
4 Bryce Gibbs - Keep
5 Chris Judd - Keep
6 Kade Simpson - Keep
7 Dylan Buckley - Keep one more year
8 Matthew Kreuzer - Keep
9 Kane Lucas - Keep
10 Matthew Watson - Keep
11 Robert Warnock - Trade, even if it is for pick 45 We should get rid of him.
12 Mitch Robinson - Prefer to keep but open to offers around pick 25 -30 but no worse. Would also consider a trade for a half-decent KP for him..
13 Chris Yarran - Keep but am open to any offers for picks around 15-20. I would't instigate a trade.
14 Brock McLean - Keep
15 Jeremy Laidler - Trade if possible. If nobody wants him, delist. He's gone anyway.
16 Andrew Collins - Delist
17 Sam Rowe - I'd prefer to delist him if it were an option. Have to keep him or trade him.
18 Tom Temay - One more year
19 Eddie Betts - Keep if the price is right. No pay increase. One year contract if he stays. Otherwise FA
20 Rhys O'Keeffe - Delist
21 Joshua Bootsma - Keep
22 Shaun Hampson - Keep but entertain a trade for offers 25-30 unless Warnock goes. Then Keep.
23 Lachlan Henderson - Keep
24 Pat McCarthy - Rookie/Delist
25 Luke Mitchell - Delist
26 Andrew McInnes Keep
27 Dennis Armfield Keep
28 Tom Bell - Keep
29 Heath Scotland - Retire gracefully under pressure.
30 Jarrad Waite - Keep but if he could be convinced to retire, I'd prefer that as an option
31 Marcus Davies - Delist
32 Nicholas Graham - Keep
33
34 Nick Duigan - Delist
35 Edward Curnow - Keep
36
37 Jaryd Cachia - Keep
38 Jeff Garlett - Keep
39 Frazer Dale - Delist
40 Michael Jamison - Keep
41 Levi Casboult - Keep
42 Zach Tuohy - Keep
43 Simon White - Keep
44 Andrew Carrazzo - Keep
45 Aaron Joseph - Delist
46 David Ellard - Trade for a pick around 40 as a first option otherwise keep.

Delist:
Collins
O'Keefe
Mitchell
Scotland (retire please or we'll push you)
Davies
Laidler (Trade if possible)
Duigan
Dale
Joseph
Eddie (FA)

Trade bait:
One of:Warnock Melb/GWS?
Hampson GWS? They need a ruck. Bris? going home. Suns? Going home

Plus:
Rowe Bris/StK (Kosi/Brown leaving/about to leave) StK more likely as they're F&^%^& for the near future.
Robbo NM (pick)/Melb (Watts?)/Syd (part of a deal for White?)
Yarran WCE/Freo/Syd (White?)
Ellard Adelaide (They need to trade as they're not into the draft)
Laidler (could just walk) Adelaide (See above)

We lose 10 including Eddie Betts as a FA and three rookies.
Elevate Bell, Curnow and Cachia.
Get Daisy (or some other FA) which costs us our compo pick.
That leaves us with just 3 live picks in the draft. Plus any we can jag from the trades. I'd like to get at least one more from that source, preferably more.

Of those listed for trade, Warnock and Rowe would be the ones I would be working hardest to move. Warnock's clogging the list. Rowe is well behind Casboult IMO.
The others I'd be happy to keep. Even Laidler but IMO his papers are already stamped.

We do NOT deal with Essendon* for ANY player except Daniher, who may be Captain next year for reasons beyond Essendon*'s control.

I think that's it. The biggest IF is whether or not I've mucked up live picks in the draft.

Blue Beatle are you reading this??

EDITED FOR SILLY COCK UPS.

But you do retire inconsistent and injury-prone KPP's that only give you half a season that could be spent developing someone else.

If we were a consistent top 4 team we would have the luxury of cotton wooling Waite to unleash him as our swing man.

At the moment we are in no mans land. No one knows if Carlton is a player or two short of a top team or just soft underbelly with ample pace to cause concern when 'on' but not enough grit and toughness for finals footy.

Waite was lost last week against Hurley which I must say was highly unusual when the week before it (reluctantly I felt) that we looked and performed much better defensively with the taller Waite closing down the high ball.

Too late to delist and doubt we would get a Lake type deal from the real flag contenders: Geelong, Swans, Hawks, Freo, Pies....? Maybe Tigers.? You never know.

Whatever you think about him he's ours. He can kick a bag and when he's on he's first class. We just have to resign to the fact that we will continue to live in hope that Waite will play a role in our success over the next year or two. After that Waite is gone.

Waite part of the Boyd package. Young and future for old and the past. I don't y
Think Waite is what the GWS have in mind but another team may be part of a 3 way trade.

Waite and Walker have been my favourite players and Waite lost me after that head butt.

Half a season is a bit generous actually

Waite at his best is a good player. Out of form last week but he can usually turn it around quickly.

If he can settle at CHB he can still have 2-3 good years. His experience will help McInnes, Wtason etc.

Says it all for me.

You're completely right.

Elevate Cachia. We are joking right ? Keep on the rookie list and see if he has more strings to his bow. Is slow, and does not get the ball much, also does not hit the scoreboard. We have to many of these players. Ie Bell, Curnow. Would rather stick with them..

Shop everybody except;

Walker
Menzel
Murphy
Judd
Simmo
Hendo
Graham
Tuohy

Obviously there are limitations re: contracts and how many you can bring in each off-season, but they are the only ones I would be committing to keep. Every one else I would be willing to discuss at the trade table. There is a forest of deadwood on this list.

I think that's what will happen. Most will be on the table come trade week. After that we will see what we have and delistings will be made accordingly.

I'd add murphy to the shop list. I'd keep Gibbs over murphy. More potential and hasn't hit his best yet, where Murphy, the best looks past him.

You're being hard on Murphy like most and in some cases he deserves some criticism.

However, with no pre season, a broken jaw, knee problems and a leading a poor side I am prepared to give him another year to show his worth.

Murph has a legitimate excuse this year. He's clearly not right. What he needs is to take a Kieran Jack type approach to the game and be more balanced between running forward and back. But that's nothing new. He should be kept.

The one who I could be talked into adding to that list is Brock. I'm surprised at what a good user of the ball he is, especially to leading targets. And he's consistent when fit.
