Seriously, I believe our boys are on a mission to reach the Prelim final. From HB to HF, we have too much pace, run and skill for Essendon* Sydney WC Hawthorn and the Aints and we have multiple goalkicking options. Our boys are much more mature and confident in themselves than last year and they wont stuff up their early final opportunities.

Does anyone know how they fixture the finals if all four are in Melbourne? Is it based on the opponent/possible crowd size, or the home ground of the higher team?

I think if we finish 5th we should get to pick where we play because we're higher than 6th (obviously).

Essendon* and St Kilda both play Etihad well. But it would more than likely be at the MCG because Bomber flogs will be crawling out of the woodwork and we'll never hear the end of it if it's at Etihad and they can't get tickets.

Why's that?

Isn't Etihad our home ground? Or do we simply get given the choice?

Its Essendon* and St kilda's more than ours. We still have more home games at the G.

I don't think we get given the choice, but the MCG is where finals are played and the highest ranked teams should play there when 4 finals are in Melbourne.

That would be like the AFL admitting there is something wrong with Etihad.
No, Dimitriou will pull out the old selective "best fit" rule.

5 home games at the G, 6 at Etihad this season.

Is there still an AFL obligation to play final(s) at Jihad though?

Interesting concept. I have not looked into the accuracy of these figures in any great depth, but my first crack at a ladder converter says:

Code:

I'm pretty certain there is. They have to play a certain number there over a certain period. Can't remember what, but something like 3 over 5 years.

If it's Carl v Syd and St K v Ess, guaranteed we'll be at Etihad.

which is @#$%&! stupid

based on where the team plays their better footy

carlton would prefer mcg
saints would prefer etihad
bombers would prefer etihad
sydney would prefer etihad

so the team in 8th place is the only one who gets the advantage/benefit of where they would prefer to play

I reckon Scum would prefer to play Saints at MCG than Etihad

Exactly therefore the teams that finish higher must be given priority re their preference....

I heard on SEN someone suggest something like this, ie that if we are going to keep 22 rounds, then each game against sides you play twice should be worth 2 points rather than 4 points. Seems to make sense to me, though I haven't thought about it a great deal.

Ye-es....but...if we beat Hawks...and Bombers beat WC....then....
c'mon... DS,Taf and Doof.....
surely you can let go of the Hate for the sake of a Top 4 finish eh???

hmmm...
yeah nah....I can see that aint likely.

Would that make an 8 point game a 4 point game...
