another good thing is we have won last 2 matches at grounds that the opposition are making there home away from home ie Dorks in Tassie and Blues in Goldcoast
And if you hear crowd very positive for blues both times

Ok rightly so we've had a go at Fev for a poor start to the game, he really was playing for free kicks, but lets also give him some credit for getting over it, getting on with the game and winning it for us. Its not easy to soldier on when things arent going your way and you think you're being dudded, but Fev did that...a very mature response. Fev, you're better than playing for free kicks and you showed that tonight.

Some of the lessor lights really showed something tonight, Cloke
and Hartlett especially.

Anyone who thinks Tex can't kick...he was spot on tonight. This guy is the real deal.

Betts just doesn't stop chasing and he also provided a leading target at times tonight. There have to be real doubts about his role in the team as we get more successful and some of the other younger players push their way through, but if eddie can play like that each week he has one hand on a premiership cup.

Defence look very settled and play well together. Walker Thornton and Santy combine well and always provide an option for each other.

How exciting is Waite looking streaming out of defence??? just needs to settle a little before he kicks the ball.

The guys on MMM were really drilling him .. and then they were saying how great he is ...

So if the GF is at the Gabba we're a shoe-in .. any word on that yet? Is it Melbourne or Brisbane?

Yawn .. don't think I'll make it ..

Sorry, have to disagree with this. Half way through the second quarter i was saying to myself that anyone watching this game could not think we will finish 16th. We were all over them. We were playing great football. It was the last 10 or so minutes in the second and the first 10 or so in the third that they got that run on...mind you umpire assisted. So for me we were the better team for all but 20 minutes of the game. There is so much to say about this game but I will just say I am so happy and look forward to being at the game next week.

Wonderful comeback ... a little worried we got into that position to start with ... a really good team would have blown us away.

But ... wow .. what a comeback.

One other thing ... don't bother listen to MMM ... they are absolutely crap. I remember from last year .. they spend so much time describing other things ... u can barely understand what is happening.

Spot on.

The period of ascendancy we afforded them was small, but they most definitely made the most of it. As was our wont last year, we failed to fully capitalise when we were well on top early - if we can improve our efficiency during times of ascendancy, then the almost inevitable opposition comebacks will pose far less of a threat.

All things considered, I believe we've made some progress. Promising signs for those whose hearts pump Blue.

Interesting thing i keep hearing also with regards to supporters opinions on nab and challenge matches

Dunno why you wouldnt chase down the NAB cup i mean not that i am under illusion to the main season but i think this time around compared to when we won the nab with recycled players this year we are aiming to win with a whole new crop of young kids and player who have been through the darkest year of the club NAD win will be great for all the yound kids and starts the season with a good positive to go into the season proper

Funny how teams say we wont field a proper team into the nab cup yet 3rd week in most sides are now getting to full strength another reason was they didnt want to get injuries or reports in the game well we havnt had either and i think in some of the regional challenge practice matches there may have been reports and injuries so hey you can get in NAB or practice matches may as well go for it in NAB as if you feild a stronger side in Practice 3rd week you may as well be doin it in the NAB where you get some benefits ie money / memebers and much more exposure in the media especially if you are winning

Quite inpressed with clokes stats
16 possesions
12 hit outs
7 marks
2 tackles

Thats not bad for a second string ruckman

have to say none of our rucks where that damaging last year ie Maclaren / French or Bryan

Ackland similar though less marks
16 possesions
13 hitouts
1 mark

I will take 32 possesions and 25 hitouts from our 2 rucks

Last year, we would have let any team blow us away once they got a sniff.

Good win. Good fight all match (except for the last couple of minutes which brought the margin back to 15)

Just returned from the game with twenty minutes to spare until the replay...Carrara as a ground will need to be rebuilt if they are going to seriously relocate the Roos to the Gold Coast. It's a shit ground.

But what a game, even if only pre-season. Umpire decisions in the thrid were beyond comprehension. Credit here to Santy. I love that man. He was crucified by the umps but was able to keep composed and was quite brilliant in the final term. Actually he was quite brilliant all night. He judges the flight of the ball for the spoil perfectly and doesn't just knock it, he punches the living crap out of the pill.

Murphy and Gibbs are silk. Also thought Lappin and Hoops were very good if not stand-outs. Fev outstanding. He has a real sense of authority nowdays, both with his ability and his understanding of the finer points of the game. Sure he was a bit of clown early on, but this is part of his nature and his behaviour is no worse than most players when milking it.

Russell- I'll have to watch the game more closely but from what I could gather he was tagging Harvey. Harvey didn't do much and if Russell's job was merely to negate him then he did well considering Harvey's speed.

Tex rocks. Stevens also fantastic.

Special mention- Cloke. If he serves up displays similar to the one tonight on a regular basis then we will be a much better side for it. He marks cleanly and confidently, (a few time tonight when the pressure was on), and he ususally kicks long. He was a champ tonight.

The crowd- We were great. Blues supporters are nightmares for opposition supporters but we can't help being perfect. The crowd was easily pro-Carlton and the old stands were great for stomping, (brought back memories of the Heatley Stand).

It was also my daughters first game. She noted that the umpires were rubbish, that it was a good feeling to see opposition supporters go home crying and that " Eddie Murphy is easily the smallest on the field." (Betts)

Just love a comeback win. Carlton played with poise and calm. The ball was actually quite slippy but we made the best of it. The Roos shit themselves basically and our boys never dropped their heads even though they dropped their guard for a while.

We took a thermos and sandwiches.

Now it's time for the replay.
