Great article.
the media as a whole took the opportunity to lay the boot into Mick at a vulnerable moment.
They are on the whole a bunch of gutless vultures.
I still dont know what crime he committed.
Interesting that Rohan Connolly was defending him on SEN along with derm saying that the media was over the top. Wonder whether that was aimed at Slobbo and caro, his main rivals.

The media (not just the footy media) like to have big controversies in the headlines (unless it's against their interests to do so ie. HS and their relationship with Essendon*).
If there aren't any they'll create their own.

I am not sure that article tells us a lot or answers why a senior coach, the most experienced coach in the AFL would spend time at half time in a tight game haranguing Ling about the Ch 7 coverage and then start the vital third qtr sticking up bits of paper on the coaches box. You'd reckon such immaturities would have been worked out of the system after 700 games.

And to think we used to worry about Ratts eating lollies on the boundary. The fact that the club felt the need to get Neeld to write it is interesting, obviously they are concerned about Mick's public image. Anyway he'll be there till the end of next year which will make it very hard for me to take a lot of pleasure in the Blues. And the old chesnut of 'you don't know the real Mick', no I don't so I judge on what I see which his public persona, and if the club is posting this it shows they have concerns.

I feel we are much closer to our next flag now than we were with Ratts in 2012.

I still remember the pounding's we took with Ratts teams that included blokes like Boots, Collins, Joseph, 3 Amigos, Murph, Simmo, Ellard, there's half the team about 75 kgs or under. They got smashed by Ess, Crows, North, Port, Hawks, Cats made us look like an under 17 team! I'm not sure how anyone thinks we were better off with the Ratts team and his blue print of outside runners plus Judd.

MM is the way forward.

Oh please. Poor carlton they got taken advantage of by big bad mick. He was offered , he took. Does this make him any different to anybody else?
What should he have done after eddie came up with his masterstroke to replace him? I dont blame him for telling eddie to gagf. Why not go into media street? He wouldnt be the only one who has gone down that path. This is beginning to sound like petty jealousy.

He took the $3,000,000 with the job description to deliver the premiership Ratten couldn't with the group.

He failed and misjudged.

He wasn't contracted to rebuild.

Be more the clubs failure of judgement than his wouldn't it Rexy? I had the feeling at the time that it was more Carlton doing the chasing rather than the other way 'round too.

So no flags for 2013/14 ... worth a shot though -- we really didn't know if the list was underperforming with Ratten. Guess they weren't.

Since the quick flag idea didn't work we need to build a list. IMO we're making good gains in this direction for the first time in years. MM's record of doing this sort of thing is excellent.

Out of curiousity ... do you have anyone in mind you'd like to see him replaced with?

As opposed to the 'truth' that after 5 years and 6 games in the job, it was only injuries in 2012 that stuffed things up for Ratts.

Has Mick expressed a desire to continue coaching beyond his current contract ? dont think so.
What a lot of people dont realize is it aint ever been the Mick show, its always been the Mick and Nanette show.A true couple of the old school.....................but these days Nanette aint so keen on the footy .Press and all that doing her head in.No way known will Mick go it alone so ya just gotta wonder whether he is actually keen to go on.......................just wonderin".

And we'd be mad if we were keen to grab him.
