(not even in the "desperately unlucky" bit)
Adelaide or Collingwood dont either.
But i know what you mean, not alot of good young kids at present on our list.

Dangerfield and Sidebottom (in the 'unlucky' boat) are both there.

I guess if you keep rebuilding, sooner or later you might just strike it lucky with a couple of gems.

What do you suggest, Surrey? Admit that we got it wrong but try our best with the 'rubbish' we have, regardless? I think you have grasped the wrong end of the stick. We never did 'rebuild' the first time around. We need a genuine rebuild and a change in attitude, not just one or the other.

What do you mean already done? Not that easy as he is not a free agent, and they will want the world. We better not do something stupid...

Im excited about these youngsters: Menzel, Graham, Bootsma, McInnes ...

We sure need to do some good drafting and recruiting this year.

No rising stars and no one in the Under 23s team is a concern.

I agree but it can turn around quickly. My criticism of the list is that we have too few having to do too much and have no real support.

Over the past 5 years we have been to slow to pull the trigger on players and our recruitment has been poor.

BUT a few smart trades and some smart drafting and we are in the finals mix and on the way up.

Let's say we get 2-3 talls through the trade period & a mid.

e.g. Delaney, Watts, Longer & Thomas

then draft a heap of kids that are pure mids through the drafts. Maybe recruit one or two fringe kids from other clubs looking for a chance or to come home. (Polec/Jaksch/Adams)

Imagine if we got Tom Boyd as well?

A side next year could look like:

B: Temay Delaney McInnes
HB: Walker Waite Bootsma
C: Tuohy Gibbs Thomas
HF: Menzel Watts Judd
F: Garlett Henderson Longer
Foll: Kruezer Graham Murphy

Int: Simpson Carrazzo Bell Watson Ellard White D.Garlett

Plus 4-5 talented kids.

It can change the whole dynamic

You rebuild when you get your list management right. Carlton thought they were ready when they weren't. I don't know what part of that is difficult to understand. What is difficult to understand, however, is your attitude. It's as if you think Carlton will play better simply by being obstinate, which is bizarre.

What I understand is that we tanked, yes tanked for years, yes years to get top draft picks because that is how you rebuild and win premierships, yes plural - premierships. So we kept getting told.
What I now hear is that we need to rebuild because we didn't rebuild correctly  or rebuild properly  or develop :garthp: or "add in what you feel right now".
Culture, winning mentality and smart trading, drafting and developing is what's needed for ever and a day. NOT JUST TOP 10 PICKS.
MY POINT being all along is that. Somehow however, I don't get anything or know anything!!!!
End of Rant.

Those who don't learn from history are only doomed to repeat it.

Recruiters should note it, and so should posters.

Same people building premiership sides around Bootsma, McInness, Menzel, etc. that were building sides around Fisher, Waite and Thornton, or even Grigg, Hampson, Robinson, Browne and Jackson.

Just as you look at Geelong forums and see how many people called for trading Hawkins, Bartel, Enright, Chapman, Johnson etc a decade or so ago....and how many do it now..

Well that's it then.

Everybody just give up. We gave it a try previously and we stuffed it so don't try and improve or learn from it.

To all Carlton supporters, thanks for the ride of 150 years but its over.

As I said earlier it doesn't take much to turn it around. We have some real talent on the list.

Add some key younger players like Watts & Longer, a few targeted youngsters from other clubs plus 6-7 talented kids and we look okay.

..highly doubt Longer will go anywhere, being developed to work with Leuey..
