Looking on the bright side...

Good to see Cincotta is progressing well.

And... that's about it?

Even that is up for debate.
The list at the bottom says "Aim to be available early in 2025 season (Update: 14 December)".
But in the same article they say:
Quote:
Alex Cincotta (hip)

- Modified program
- Availability: Rounds 7-9
- Commenced running last week and will look to build up his modified program from here

It might be after the bye by the time the first ball is bounced.

Rotten timing for Skull.

Some consolation that the VFL side has got a couple of byes in the first month.

Charlie Curnow back running and kicking today a week on from his latest knee surgery.
He’s still more unlikely than likely for Round 1, but he’s certainly making his case.

He was a scapegoat for a bigger issue . The whole medico/phsio/rehab etc etc needs looking at .

Pushing the limits with Elite athletes is always a risk and add to that a change in training approach, so it is not surprising some soft tissue injuries occur. The crucial detail is if they reoccur and that was the problem I believe with Russells' program.

Most clubs have a decent sized injury list:

So we are down to one fit ruck for the first four to six weeks of the season minimum. Lewis Young better be getting some reps in!

I don’t like to write off players full stop, let alone for the duration mentioned on the injury list. The club has moved on from 1-2 weeks syndrome. Nowadays they add a bit of mayo.

Chicka is recovering really well and I’m thankful for that.
Newman is further ahead with his recovery than suggested too.

Jack IS playing tomorrow
Young is a better footballer than what some Blues fans think.
Both can play KPD and 2nd ruck.

Charlie doesn’t need to play v Tigers round 1 and will play round 2.
Walsh can play NOW and WILL plat round 1

Pitto is a VFL ruckman for those who don’t like 2 rucks
Ditto HOF
Ditto Durdin
VFL starts 8 days after AFL.
That’s a month away

First year player Jagga Smith misses his first year.
Newman misses at least half year.
Cincotta will miss maybe half a dozen rounds
Charlie MAY miss round 1

The sky is falling

After round 1 vs Tigers I see 2 bonafide AFL players missing.
Sure, like every other teams thinking, I too hope there’s no more injuries tomorrow.

I’m not worried at all.
I can’t wait for the real stuff to start. Rubbing hands.

McGovern - hamstring 6-8

Edit - club saying ankle. Certainly didn’t look like it when he grabbed the back of his leg.
