To pinch a saying - Harry will play alongside Charlie every game he is fit, and you will like it.

Also when Harry doesn't perform it appears to adversely affect the confidence of the entire team. I can't think of many occasions recently where Harry played poorly and the team won - it's almost like we are a better chance of winning without him in the side. No doubt Harry will be selected for the Swans final however I hope he can turn things around quickly.

Still 7 days out so grain of salt etc but the forecast for Friday has improved rain wise. Low chance of any rain - under a mm.

Was in at the club this morning and the atmosphere was unreal. The boys were very relaxed (as you'd expect a bunch of 20-somethings to be) and a host of former stars from the 70s, 80s and 90s were there. Exciting times!

One way or another someone is going to wish that the deal was done a few odd seasons ago.

Harry has been working up the ground all year something you fail to acknowledge.
The vast majority of his marks and possessions have come outside the forward fifty.
We need to enter these finals with 2 tall forwards and 2 rucks if we don't we will get slaughtered.
Last week when Harry was running around pretending to be a ruckman this freed up one of the tall backs who went to Martin who got a bath.
We are a contested stoppage team so we need our ruckman to do bollocking work around the ball.
If we insist on playing Harry as 2nd ruck you are causing Charlie to get double teamed and Martin to attract a better opponent.
You are a smart man BV and even you would have realised that when Harry was kicking badly that Voss moved him to the true centre half forward position so he was contributing up the field.
No 1 player in the comp for marks down the line.

We don't have a Gawn type ruckman who drifts back to help out and goes forward and clunks them and wins hit out to advantage. So Melbourne dont need 2 rucks.Our 2 are lucky if they catch a cold.
But where both are better than gawn is following up after the initial ruck contest either by blocking or tackling or knocking it out.
This is taxing so you need 2.

how do you feel about our winning % and how we've looked in those tough losses when we tried to play harry, pittonet and tdk?


through my eyes, it doesn't work. we lose defensive pressure playing all three - and our 9 game win streak was a product of hungry, fast, swarming defensive pressure.


one of those big three has to miss if we want to play that hunting, contested high energy brand of footy (which other teams struggle to go toe-to-toe with us over 4 qtrs)



harry's effort in the GWS isn't worthy of a start in finals ... constantly hands on hips, out on his feet and unable to be even competitive at times in the 2nd half.

i often wonder, if harry doesn't go down with his knee, are we even sitting here waiting for our first final in 10yrs?

If one is sub they only have to manage for half game or so and we're not risking being short a runner because we'd be playing an extra one in the starting 22.
