Pros:
Simmo, Yarran, Murph, Waite, Everitt.
Very encouraging performance from Buckley.
Keep seeing glimpses among the many mistakes Bell makes.
Good second half from Thomas.
Good last quarter from Lucas, Robbo and Menzel.
We try hard.
Cons:
We rarely win close games.
Kicking for goal again. Too many players simply don't want the responsibility of kicking goals from set shots. Either we're not doing enough work, or we've got too many mentally soft players. We're not going to kick winning scores if we have to rely on kicking all our goals from hurried snaps. Obvious contrast with Richmond's efficiency in front of goal, especially from set shots.
Not big enough. Not quick enough. Not skilled enough. Not physical or aggressive enough.
I know our defence is pretty inexperienced, but we're losing games because of a quarter where the opposition smashes us and scores at will.
Midfield was awful in the clearances for half a game.
Not sure if McLean picked up an injury in the final practice match, but he's been invisible the last 2 games. Not sure if we can play both Ellard and McLean in the same team. It makes us too slow.
Just like it's tough having both Bell and Robbo butchering the ball from midfield.
We don't have elite matchwinners at the moment. And we simply can't win with so many players not contributing.
Gibbs had a shocker.
I could cope with what we see from Rowe, if he was 21-22. But not sure he's got enough time or development left at 26-27 to ever be a very good AFL player.
I know they've had a far easier draw, but St Kilda's 2-0. And we're 0-2 and facing Essendon** next week.
wouldn't have either of them - get cripps and casbolt in ASAP
drop garlett to tell him that lairising when kicking for goal is not on - apart from the grubber, another where he just tried to caress and kicked short.
also two dumb decisions from rowe (kicking into man on the mark when he had a team mate (?yarran) beyond the mark and ready to take off and then Warnock kicking straight to vickey (pity he didn't kick that straight for goal.
