Maybe its a protective device but I predicted the strong possibility of 0-5. I also wanted to see us play better footy today. We did, and probably should have won. Perplexed by the lack of legs in the last - which then meant less intensity, no manning up and a loss of structure (was MM outcoached in the last q?).
No big fan of Joseph but at least he can't be blamed today! But I've said elsewhere, we don't yet have any other options for opposition small forwards which is why we drafted Graham and Temay. It's a big hole still.
Thought Levi played an important role again today. Obviously he's not yet giving all that we want but for the last 2 years we've been desperate for a big target to create spillages, and we've got that now.
Was sure that our ruck rotations would grow dominant as the game went on once Jolly went down. Huge credit to Lynch for his performance today.
Harry O outshone Gibbs today which had a big bearing on us being overrun.

Absolutely no excuses today

Not good enough.

Bottom 5 or 6 gave us nothing.

Half a dozen hbfers on the list and none of them any good.

Will win some games this year but not enough to make the 8. [/s]

Yep. How Ratten made finals 3 years in a row with such a terrible list is mind boggling.
He must be a freak.

Mind boggling hey.

Guys mm will need 12 months to fix game style up from rattens mess

Rubbish. If he was any good we would already be seeing at least a glimpse of what he is trying to achieve. So far all out attacking shootouts is all i see and we could do that less mediocre with Ratts at the helm.

He needs time if you don't understand that then god help you

It was an exciting game but with Kruise dominating I thought we should have been about 5 goals in front by 3/4 time. We weren't - that is always a danger.

Was very happy with Lucas, yes yes missed two tackles by not using his body but I think that can be worked on, the rest was excellent.

In the end the difference I thought was that their kid killed our kid.

Really happy with Rowe, just got going and his third was great.

Lucas was definitely good throughout the whole game. Looks like he belongs.

Agree. A massive improvement over his 2012.

..except that we rotated Bolt and Rowe thru the ruck as well, and it was vs them that Lynch had impact, Krooz was all over him, and worked hard thru the packs..

..Krooz had 13 disposals, doesn't sound a lot but you need to know the kind they are, plus all the blocks, shepherds, taps, hit-outs, smothers he does.. ..and the fact his disposals were over 90% DE..

..2nd most clearances for the team, 2nd most 1%s, most FFs, 3rd most tackles..

..and i'm sure Jolly disagree's with you..

Have to say I'm surprised at the savage responses to our performance. Save for the last quarter, I was happy with how the boys fought it out and it was a marked improvement over last week. That said though, I'm still pissed that we lost for the obvious reasons.

Without going into all the details, the following things cost us in the end:
1) Umpiring. Some of the worst I've seen. One of those cases where it was the ones they DIDN'T pay. All day filth players were throwing the ball and holding/pushing our guys around, yet never penalised. @#$%&! disgrace.
2) Tackles. Will there ever be a time when we actually apply tackles that rock the opposition, not allowing them all the time in the world to dish off, or shrug us off?
3) Our obligatory 20-min snooze.

Kreuzer's on Jolly was pretty good!

Good bump from Walker.

But I know what you're saying. A few more hardnuts would be good.

Hamill. :fight:

Spot on Don.
Also add some real lack of polish at times.(Robbo comes to mind)
And 2 crucial moments in the 1st qrt when we were right on top. Carrazzo`s smothered kick and Jeff`s grubber through the centre. Completely lost momentum at that stage.

Russell was OK though playing for the winning side.

Russell was very average.

hey guys, first ever post...

look, pies are a top 2-4 side...hate them but that's the facts. We hung in bloody well, lacked class in the end. Can,t go too balastic when perhaps that is where we are at. Sure we have weak links, hopefully MM will sus all that out over the next month or so

Unfortunately our list is our list...if we can fine tune, great- however no point potting everybody for a mistake here and there. For what it is worth, I thought the effort today was good, mistakes yes, but there were some exciting passages of play. I will be there again next week(unfortunately next to my Geelong wife) but will tip the blues to win by 18 points.......

Welcome aboard.

I rarely seen Yarran take an overhead mark in a one on one situation but he managed it against Russell.
