Change is required. Problem is, this club is full of big-head's who are too bloody stubborn to admit that they're part of the problem.

We need a president who has leadership.
We need a CEO who actually does something.
we need a football department that covers all bases.
We need a medical department that can....... well - you know!

In regards to recruitment - I think it's been a failure for a while now but we've been blind sighted by it! It's a major concern and it will hurt us in the future.
When was the last time we had a Rising Star nomination?????

Personally, i'd love to see the back of Sticks, Swann, Ratts, McKay, Darren Harris (cause there sure as hell hasn't been any development anywhere) and I think it's time for Wayne Hughes to depart from the club as well.

"Ratts has got a contract and we will support him. That's the way it is. If that changes, what will be will be."

The last sentence is most telling.

Look at the AFL ladder and tell me which sides you would have us beating this weekend? GWS, Gold Coast, Melbourne and only if it's the Doggies of the past 3 weeks, them. If you had rattled off our current injury list to anyone within Carlton 10 weeks ago and said that would make us the 14th placed side in the competition, they would have laughed at you.

That's the situation. When our premiership window should be open - and we're supposed to be top 4, defiant supporters/media/officials et al, are in effect stating that our injuries justify Carlton being 14th...we may very well hold that ladder position as the season draws to a close.

That's a huge fall from grace.

Wasn't sticks talking just two days ago about sticking fat, and everything being fine? Now it's 'what will be will be' (just as long as I can still be the 'reluctant' president)

These articles seem to have Sticks going around putting out spot fires.

That ain't good. Internal spot fires usually mean folks not working together.

Interesting Mathieson went to a QLD media group to give them his story...
"mates club"
"review from top to bottom"

and he didnt use a usual footy hub.

Second he went to them ... because if you think about what he says... you know he has asked for this before and been ignored.

Third.Pratts give the club golden eggs on the drip.
Bruce gave the club the goose that lays the golden eggs and he doesnt want to see the goose that laid the golden eggs killed by these bozos.

Fourth... if you have met Bruce.. you just know theyre not empty words.. and if he needs to will do whatever it takes!!!

Fifth.. Theyre in a hell of Bruce trouble me thinks!!!

Sixth... Scarps??? Go tell Bruce to his face that he doesnt support the club and that he is a negative troll,,,,,,,

First time I met Bruce reminded me of the first time I was in Kuwait as an 8 year old. Lots of gold on the fingers of wealthy men. Couldn't take my eyes off it. Was trying to have a very very business-like discussion with Bruce about funding arrangements for the Racing Industry Post-2012 and was still drawn to the gold...so much gold.

Try take it off him too!!!

And yeah... he is one guy who kicks heads......
No way he went public with this if he didnt have something up his sleeve to back him up on it...

No popgun there,,,,,

He did say... the club shouldnt need to keep going back to the wealthier supporters it should be a self reliant model....

For suggesting a review? I encourage it.
I don't see him kicking Carlton people about incesstantly. He is entitled to his opinion, but where was he in 2009, 2010, 2011? Anyone for that matter?
It's a little pea brained from Mathieson where little positives are had IMO. None of these comments were highlighted in pre season about being a "boys club", why not?. Which is a little ridiculous considering the lack of challenge at senior level and he would know that better than most.
Give us challengers and they might get voted in. No challengers and there's no one to really vote for, is there.

Was so glad to pick up the paper this morning and finally see an article quoting someone with a huge influence at the club who has the balls to speak out. He said what most of here have saying for weeks, even longer.
Couldnt agree with him more. Especially the part about the boys club.
Just one question, Synbad, are you really Bruce Mathieson?

He kicked in to give himself credibility.... waited so it doesnt look like he owns the club... and now is calling it for what it is...

Where was he in those years???

Putting together the goose that lays the golden eggs Scarps.

Something noone else at the club is capable of doing

Plus running his own multi faceted business.

What do you mean what was he doing???

Or where was he???

I'm sorry...but you're talking about the man who is the reason we exist as a financially viable club. The man who is paying off the debt. The only one powerful enough to demand action and the only one they're likely to listen to. The likes of you and I lost our voice a looong time ago. Please do some homework. The answers are all in here. Do a 'search' (top right hand corner) for 'Mathieson' and you'll get your answers.

More importantly Doc... Did you kiss his ring? :smoking:

Also wasn't Jean supposed to take a prominent role in improving the operations of our membership department.? Given we finished on a positive note last year on field and our great start to this season, our current membership figures are underwhelming and approximately 5000 less than our target. The question remains as to what she has contributed from an operational viewpoint.

Doc, what is Colin Delutis up to these days? Does he have anything to offer? Or does he prefer to stay out of the limelight?

Prefer the sword to fall sooner rather than later. This is becoming quite destabilising for the club and a major distraction for the players.

Conundrum

Just out of interest is Craig Mathieson HIS representative on the board, or was he elected?

Bruce Mathieson is larger than life. Massive for the club!
But when he wants new faces at Carlton.. c'mon Bruce mate, seriously - step up Brucey. It's all yours if you want it and no one will stand in his way...question is does he want supporter vindictiveness if it turns pear shaped again in few years time? I personally don't think the issue is too far outside an injury crisis and some players like Gibbs and Jamison in very poor form.

As for his recruiting comments - needs a balanced view...has been improving past three years but agree from 2006-2009 was pretty lousy.
