I think we need a few more mature bodies in the midfield to help Judd out, plus the youngsters should be rotated through the seniors, not all dumped in at once. I'd also doubt yarran will get a game in the seniors based on his effort on the weekend.

So for me I'd swap Ellard and McLean for yarran and gar[t]lett. Yes on paper they are slower but we'll get no pace out of yarran the way he is now anyway, and I'd rather the other youngsters play the outside running roles....for a few games until y & g get their mojo's back...

Love to see McInnes get a call up, missed out last year when he was putting a few good games together due to injury.

Sorry but not the time to play the kids just yet. Let them develop and earn there call up! Plenty of time for them to come in and play well. We need to allow the team who put us in this position to get us out and give them every opportunity to show how much they want it or not. Fail this last test and they know what is coming in 6+ weeks time. The equation is simple now.

The same AJ who turns the ball over constantly, cannot mark overhead, cannot stick with a defender.

Do you not remember his game against the West Coast??

Or is 2 weekends ago too far back for your memory to recall?

Horses for courses selection has been the go all year. He didn't have a great game last week, take out the dodgy HTB call, and that pass to Jamo and you'd hardly notice him. Who gets a run ahead of him? Laidler gone, so who put their hand up in that stunning 2 goals 9 performance on the weekend?

Why would he stick with a defender, also?

Can anyone also qualify the McInnes selection calls, also?

Yeah, will probably get a game before seasons out to work out whether we give him another year, but really....how many games have you all seen him play? Let alone good ones?

"Ooo, a new name, emergencies, he must be good. Wouldn't even have the foggiest what position he plays, but he'll do. Anyone but the incumbent! Someone else! Someone else!"

He has been amongst the most consistant for NB over the past few weeks . He appears in the best each week

AJ has done a great job on Cyril.
Lucky Cyril's kicking was astray last game though.
My favourite match up on Cyril thus far is Armfield.
I don't mind anyone if they beat Cyril.

Never seen him play Rhino. I dream that he is all that, can take screamers, run like the wind, kick it a mile 4ft from the ground to a leading target. Satisfied now?

Given Bower had a good game on the weekend he may get a look in.
Jamo FB, Watson CHB and Bower BP as the 3rd tall.
I guess it depends on whether Ratts goes with 3 ruckmen R/FF/CHF.
Pity Waite hasn't stood up.

He's in the best each week in a team getting flogged. Yet to see a report from the usual suspects that show he had an above average game. Reports seem to be around the mark of "best of a bad bunch", "tried hard", "solid over four quarters".

I completely agree to the extent that he should be given a go later in the year from a list management perspective, but whilst we're still in the hunt, seems a bit premature

Did anyone hear/read Ratts presser today.. I have been confident that we might give the hawks a shake this week, but I think this attitude problem of blaming everyone else but ourselves isnt going away. First chance post the bye, and Ratts is talking about injuries again (and yes i know he was responding to Jezza) but still, move forward.. start again.. all those things we all want to see and hear that might give us some chance of playing finals.

On the funnier side, apparently Laids is a fast healer.. I think the fact that he has done the same thing 3 times would indicate that we BELIEVE he is a fast healer.. not that he is.

Don't remember the game that well.

Going by the posts sounds like we were unlucky not to get the flag in '07.

my issue this year is,
blokes have not stood up with there opportunities.
bower, russell, joseph etc.
so lets reward blokes like mcInnes, who has been in the best the last three or four weeks.
dale is another one, gets promoted, plays some good footy, so why not give him a go.
ten weeks to go and, i would be happy too see mcInnes, dale and mitchell given a go before the same old blokes.
this year is shot for us, lets get some game time into these blokes.
bootsma and watson have looked good, they have taken there opportunities.
blueTboy signing out

How is the year shot at 9th with 10 weeks to go?

Yeah it probably is, but happy to wait till its well and truly over (dropping one of the Dogs/Roos games probably does it for me)...no point signing the death warrant just yet.

The scenario that gets me here - lets say we play like shit for the next 10 weeks, and eek into 8th spot purely through St Kilda and Richmond bottling it - first week we come out and do enough to get by Essendon*, then second week play our best football all year and beat an interstate team in a final finally...(Hawthorn 2001 almost) only to get done in the prelim by a far better side.

Played like shit all year, but still made the achievement of being a top four side via a Bradbury finish.

Where does Ratts stand from there?
