Lynch is ruck size; Gibbs will be murdered. We need the third tall, and they will add to our run just fine with Jamo. If he plays, Austin will do with his left foot what Laidler did with his left.

It will be Armfield who comes in for Duigan.

Russell to play tall on Darling if he plays

Jamo on Kennedy
Thornton on Lynch
Gibbs on Le Cras
Armfield on Nicoski

No room for Austin in my team.

Not sure if I've misunderstood here, but Austin is a right footer.

No, Really??? Whodathunkit.

Lynch is the size of a small building and I don't mean a doghouse. Gibbs cannot go one out with him and T-Bird might get pushed around.

Kennedy is a very powerful unit these days who's good on the lead, in the air and body on body.

Jammo gets one, who gets the other?

They might push Thornton forward and move Henderson back for this game.

Isnt Lynch smaller than goodes? Half as talented too.

They will probably be in 4 one on ones marking contests for the whole game. Lynch will probably mark 2. Gibbs will run all off him and destroy him the other way for the one quarter it takes for Worsfold to realise they cant afford to keep Lynch as a target. The rest of the game lynch will try and take gibbs away from the ball. Gibbs can use this as way to stuff up their whole forward structure.

It would rely on the team to keep doing what they have been and putting heat on the ball so it their forwards struggle to find space.

Run v height. Keep the rotations up and running players around the ball set up in a way that gives WC no space. Pull that off and the rest is easy.

That's why Armfield will come in. The extra runner will allow us to smash there midfield.

Lynch 192cm, 102kg
Goodes 194cm, 99kg

I'd have thought Lynch was much bigger.

I see Austin replacing Duigan rather than adding a tall.

Exactly Hotcox. All year we have won the midfield. Even in games we have lost. The reason is we have extra players rotating through the midfield. Even one of our tall forwards (walker) can get in there if we have to.
We love it when teams try to go tall on us. It never works. That is why we name our team with all these small players in the backline. Try and tempt them i reckon.
If we start taking out running players and replacing them with talls to defend their talls then we are going to need them as the ball will be going inside our defensive 50 a lot more and with more fluency. We saw what happened last week when we lost a rotation and the heat got taken off the ball. We got cut up.

I am not totally against Austin for Duigan but i think it is unnecessary.

Austin played on the wing in S.A.

This thread has gone a bit mad this week. God help us if we'd LOST 4 in a row. All of a sudden we're so strong that the likes of Duigan, Waite and Laidler are apparently no longer in our best 22.

I actually wrote that the first time, then convinced myself he was a left footer.

Real danger game, we are going in really undersized. Our backline has been cursed this season.
WCE by 3 goals.

How good is it to see O'Keeffe's name in there. Seems he's just about a lock for a senior promotion next year.

That amounts to double-Dutch given that Duigan is 186cm and Austin is tall. However, our fussing over team balance is a bit precious.

how are we going in any more undersized than most of the rest of the year?

oh no their big slow talls are gonna ...........what?

they will struggle to move the ball into their forward 50 with much fluency and we will run the ball out at will

5 goal win

Lynch is taller than 192 cms, and Goodes is shorter than 195; the figures for some senior players seem to be exaggerated.

Not the point in this case. Our defence cannot man all of Lynch, Darling, Kennedy and one of Cox or NicNat. They need a chop out in the form of a third tall, or it will be the Adelaide game all over again, against an arguably cleaner midfield that will honour leads more.

I understand the argument for backing the run, but West Coast are playing confident and composed footy, and know where to go to exploit the matchups.
