When you're promoting players that dont deserve a game in the seniors then you know that the list isn't that great and we lack depth.

We will lose this game and I would even go as far as suggesting that finals are not on the radar for us in 2009 which might be a blessing in disguise so we can add another top 10 draft pick to a list still crying out for genuine talent

Cloke and Bentley??? isn't bad enough that Houlihan survived the chop and Fisher's is in the side

Cloke, Bentley, and Fisher wouldn't get a game in any other AFL (team throw in Houla and hate to say this O'Hailpin too)...... so who ever it was that said 'those inclusions just prove we lack depth' few pages back is spot on.

Unsure what to think of these selections.

Disappointed to see that Ellard wasn't even named on an extended bench. From reading the bullants reports, Ellard is probably the most deserving of a call up from last week, and has been playing well lately. Am glad to see Ando's name there though.

On the flip side, (this won't be popular) Yarran apparently plays a poor game and gets rewarded. I want to see Yarran starring in Blue, but also want to see him earn it. I can't believe he would be getting this if he had been pick 56. That wasn't supposed to matter once drafted.

Bentley has played alright lately, but his lack of pace might cause some problems on such a big ground as Subi (as well as causing thousands of Talking Carlton viewers RSI from excessive posting).

I think we will miss Scotland this weekend, but understand the need for a statement, and think Stevens will benefit from a run in the twos.

Assuming that they don't alter the bench choices, I'd say it should be Hammer, Armfield, Anderson and whoever trains the house down showing they want it. I do wish the last bloke was Ellard though.

If anything, this week's Ins - after such an appalling shemozzle of a third quarter - demonstrate how weak our list really is. Many opposition fans have it right - we bat too shallow and other than some big names and some really good kids we still dont have a full list of 30 good senior players or emerging talent to pick from.

Cloke's first 7 games of the year were on a par with the worst performances I've seen from a Carlton player. Least impact of any other player in the comp? For Russell to come straigh back in after a very poor final 2-3 matches, and then yarran to get potentially brought back in after a shocking Reserves match, should really highlight where we are at.

To go from 11th to top 4 with that list was always highly unlikely. Bottom rungs of the 8 yeah, probably. Comparing Carlton to top 4 teams is good to see where we have to get to, but we're still along way away.

PS I'm going to Subi this weekend and sitting in the Admirals Club with a bunch of WA Docker fans. If we have another Round 7, you'll see some shots of a bloke with bad facial hair crying on camera after having been ejected for abuse.
