I caught a little of Darren Hinch today and he called all Carlton supporters who support Pratt "Scum" and of course Pratt "Scum. I hope he is hit with a suit.

Well Mikkey I think Derryn has also upset the wrong person, Mick Gatto apparently rang him up to wish him an early death

I thought he called the Carlton Crew scum and not us supporters.

Interesting listening to Hutchy on SEN this morning passionately going in to bat for Pratt, saying that it was really sad for the football community that he won't be officially involved in the AFL in the immediate future, as least directly anyway. He also said that he has done so much good for the community and for football in general etc. etc. He said he also believes that his standing down as president will not be as significantly detrimental to the club as people would think. i.e. He still thinks Dick will be the one pulling the strings in the background, like what he is doing at the moment re the Fevola contract negotiations. He also mentioned how people underestimate how great he has been single-handedly taking Carlton from being a basket case to being a financial and structural power that it once was etc. wouldn't have got Swann or Chris Judd to the club etc. etc. etc.

Where am I going with this? Everyone here knows all this information, and would agree with everything he has said, some would even say it was all very obvious and no big news in the first place.

I just found it very interesting because it is the first bit of positive press/media I have seen about Pratt since he stood down last week. I would like to hear others thoughts as to why they think Hutchy would have come out with something like this. :?

Normally he's the first person to jump on the negative aspects of any issue.

Hutchy is McGuires puppet. McGuire, believe it or not, has some "close" CFC friends in that circle of "friends".

It's about building credibility, and being balanced as a journo. Hutchy has certainly done that over the course of the year, particularly where he helped that 18yo president north of the murray get exposure on TFS and the sponsors kicked in a car, and some $$$ to keep the local league alive.

I heard the piece on SEN as well this morning and Hutchy spoke glowing of Pratt. How could you not after what he's done for the club and what this means for the AFL, and general philanthropy in the community?

It's twats like Tony "Fat" Jones and fuckprick smith that are biased that have no credibility or are not respected by the footy world, whatsoever because of their hatred to Carlton.

Don't forget that Hutchy was given the Pratt Presidency story first. IIRC, he scored a Pratt interview on the night it broke. So clearly there's some love between Hutchy and Dick.

Oh, and I'm still &%#$-off that Dick's had to stand down from the Presidency

he didnt HAVE to stand down - but he is bigger than all this media bullshit and he knows the carlton football club is again bigger than that.

he is a selfless man who knows that the carlton football club can do without the ongoing scrutiny .

Richard will continue his work behind the scenes whilst he clears his name.

"President" or not - Richard Pratt is still our saviour and his work goes on.

I know!!!! I had to pinch myself to make sure I was actually hearing it.

The thing that shocked me the most was not what he said, but how genuine it sounded. I've seen Hutchy on TFS and Footy Classified talking positively about stuff before and you can just tell by the sound of his voice that he doesn't give two shits about what he's saying, all part of the job. But this morning he sounded genuinely passionate about the Pratt situation.

The best part about it was he didn't make outlandish statements that got a rise out of the other hosts, although I'm sure a few "Bogans and no shows" would have turned up for the next talk back segment to have their opportunity to draw comparisons between Pratt and Tony Mokbel.

Fortunately, I was in the office and missed it 8)

Meanwhile, board member Richard Newton has emerged as the likely long-term replacement for Pratt.

Newton, who runs a family investment company, has impressed many around the club with his understated style and financial nous.

Vice-president Stephen Kernahan has stepped into the breach left by Pratt's departure and is set to remain until the end of the season.

It is understood NAB boss Ahmed Fahour will not be asked to join the board.

This is how the conversation normally goes...

"Look - we need to get a positive spin on this - Richard has done too bloody much hard work to have his name and the club's name sullied in the press week in week out. We should forget about written media - they've done F_all...give bloody Hutchy a call - invite him for lunch over at Raheen - and let's get Pratty, Ashy, Swanny, Ratts, Fev, Juddy and Sticks around the table - have a few drinks and get bloody Shannon Bennett over to cook up a bloody storm and let Hutchy know that he's a bloody good journo - stroke his bloody ego - let him know we want him covering some Carlton stories over the next 12 months and we'll give him some scoops for his segments on the footy show and his gig on the radio - just get a few positive bloody Pratty stories out there...Australia's largest philanthropist - good bloke - puts up with a son-in-law who sits on the Collingwood board and how he'll still be pulling the strings at Carlton. Rightio fellas - get it done!"

Every single football patron has been guilty of your food/catering monopoly/cartel at AFL venues over the years that you have presided over as AFL Commissioner whilst your nose has been stuck up Ron Evan's anus as well Samuel - why doesnt your ACCC unanimously investigate that one???

oh please, Spare Me!

I'll aggree that RP has done wrong and should (and has) been punished and it's dissapointing to know that a man we have learnt to repsect and love would be behind such things............. but are we being made to believe that he is the only one guilty of such crimes? Are you @#$%&! serious?

Right now, i'm a Victim of having to sell my beloved car because petrol in Victoria seems to be 0.12c higher than any other state.

Right now, i'm a victim of being forced to PAY EXTRA FEES in Public Transport costs DESPITE the fact that customer service leves are at a disgracefull low.

Right now, i'm a victim of paying for Heavy beer prices at the football despite it being mid-strength and purchasing bottled water that carries a 500% mark-up.

Right now, i'm a victim of not living the "Australian Dream" of owning my own home because we have the largest stamp duty tax of anywhere in the world.

Right now, i'm a victim of feeling unsafe to walk home from the city at night because the police who should be there ARE OUT REVENUE RASING FOR THE STATE!

Right now, i feel INSULTED because a knob head named Grahame Samuals seems to think he has the right to DICTATE to me what makes me a victim of what!!!!!
