Bondi, I felt our midfield performed best when he was up and running last year. His inside work was excellent and he also did plenty of shepherding/blocking for others such as Stevens/Judd. He is the one I am keeping everything crossed for in 2009 as to me Gibbsy isn’t ready just yet and neither should he be.

Location: Beautiful 1 day, premiership the next !!
OK, I'll have a crack !!

FB - B. Thornton, M. Jamison, J. Anderson

HB - S. Grigg, J. Waite, P. Bower

C - A. Walker, N. Stevens, K. Simpson

HF - C. Yarran, M. Kreuzer, B. Gibbs

FF - C. Cloke, B. Fevola, E. Betts

R - R. Warnock, C. Judd, M. Murphy

I/C - B. Fisher, R. Hadley, H. Scotland, R. Houlihan

Carrots is the most unlucky to miss out, but IMO he is definitely not defensively minded enough to play in a back pocket where Anderson is probably the lucky 1 to get into the team.

2nd 18

FB - J. Bannister, S. Oh'Ailpin, D. Armfield

HB - C. Johnson, M. Austin, R. O'Keeffe

C - M. Robinson, A. Bentick, J. Russell

HF - S. Wiggins, A. Hartlett, C. Tiller

FF - A. Joseph, J. Edwards, D. Ellard

R - S. Hampson, A. Carrazzo, S. Browne

The 2nd 18 will make a very handy Bullants team !!!

Yep I reckon Gibbsy had a shocker this year looking for real improvement for Season 2009 otherwise we may look to trade him back to Port Adelaide maybe for Hamish Hartlett. :P

He's one who can change our fortunes for the better. He was great in the guts doing the things you describe when fit. Unassuming, hardworking, quick reflexes and skillful. Good size too.

As you say, he's best equipped in the heat of battle, whilst the younger ones build up to do it on a need to basis when it's their turn, rather than 100 minutes of in and under.

Fingers crossed he stays healthy.

Its great to see that different peple have their favourites!

my 22:

Thornton Jamison Carrazzo
Scotland Waite Bower
Gibbs Judd Simpson
Walker Cloke Yarran
Betts Fevola Fisher
Kreuzer Stevens Murphy

Warnock Grigg Bannister Houlihan

em: Hadley Armfield O'hAilpin

I am of the opinion that Bannister is in our top 22. He has the experience, the bulk and running capacity to play a defensive role or a run with role.

By the end of the season I expect him to be pushed out by the likes of Armfield, Browne and Robinson.

Wiggins wouldnt look out of place in this team either.

There seems to be a lot of depth now which put a lot of pressure on the players. Hopefully this will lift the quality of the list.

Hey Agro,

I just got off the phone with our old mate London Blue.

I'm coming to Melbourne to hook up with him to catch a few Carltonians, including Juddy's old man, the great man himself, go to training, catch up with uncle Cordy etc etc....are you jealous?

I've got some amazing news to pm you from LB, but here's some of the scoop to share with all and these are some of the views of the great man (I should say, secondhand news from LB):

*Judd reckons that there wont be any talk about Judd in 2010, it will all be Gibbs He's a freak, and will have a great season.

*Here's the names to look out for in 2009:

Hampson yep (he's going to be the next Dean Cox if all goes to plan). He's in ripping shape and really learning fast. He is faster than Coxy.

Bower is a freak. He is so good, and so under rated. He's born to play CHB. He will be an AA one day.

Jamison is a great backman. Potential AA.

Armfield was finding his feet in 2008. Pace to burn and very skillful.

Walker is one of the most amazing athletes he has ever seen. He will star if he stays healthy. Amazing.

Fisher pound for pound the best mark in at the club and one of the best in the AFL ... would be a good wingman/linkman.

Kreuzer is faster than Reiwoldt at the same age, and has more stamina, greater reach than him and is a natural forward. He can play anywhere as required. Will be a big name in 2 years time. Still young, and will play forward more in 2009.

Hadley is a freak. Very fast. Very tough. Seasoned. Important.

Now if you haven't got these names in your 22, by the sound of things to come, you will come 2009.

Oh yeah...a big thanks to our CEO Swanny.

We are going places, and he's taking us there. He just makes things happen.

Without Pratty though, there would be no Swanny, so thanks Dick.

LB is not running for the board in the upcoming AGM/ elections. The club is very very stable.

Visy Park is A BIG NAVY BLUE ROCK!

If those two kick on we're going to go places real fast.

And unlike Reiwoldt he can kick straight.

Left hand side are those I don't think are ready, the top right are those unlucky to be left out, the group of three are the emergencies.

I certainly like the idea of Hadley across half forward.

I think he could be the wrecking ball that we need.

Similar to some other deserter who's name is unspeakable on this forum.

Hampson not ready in 2009? ...at your own peril.

My bet is that Cloke will find it difficult to beat Hammer for the ruck spot. 196cm ruckmen is not the way we're going and I hope that's forever, not just 2009.

I hope Cloke is focussing on making CHF his own; I'm pretty sure he is.

He'll be lighter and more mobile for the CHF role in 2009 than he was in 2008 as a (short) ruck heavy weight.

Watch this space.

I think Hampson is ready physically, but his disposal currently lets him down, and his reading of the play isn't top notch. Unfortunately these things are harder to fix than the physical aspects.

I agree that Cloke could make CHF his own, but I see him and Kreuzer being rotated through there, with all three (Cloke, Kreuzer and Warnock) sharing the ruck duties.

Well the bookies have got it wrong then - we shouldn't be on the 4th line of betting at $16 for the flag - we should be bloody flag favourites.

I'm  some people can't find a spot for Hadley

If he is fit, he is in the best 22.... simple as that.

Not bad.
Bit too top heavy having Cloke in the side.
Fisher adds nothing to the side
