When I've employed individuals in the past.....I almost always had positive or negative feelings pretty early into the talk.....had either good or uncertain vibes pretty quickly in most cases.

With Ratts.....the Club knows him.....knows all about him....they know he can do the job....why stuff about talking to others a second time if they didn't measure up to the mark at the first talk?

Let's get on with it.....there's games to play.....lists to finalise for next year....contracts etc; and of course....the Draft.

There's no time to waste....let's just do it !!!

Exactly why give others who are not serious contenders false hope. I agree.

I've only been involved in employing someone once. We should have gone for the cute one. The one that "ticked all the right boxes" and fulfilled the requirements of the process was a right PITA. At least the other one would have been easier on the eye.

The process has given me the impression that the club will have a big say in choosing his assistants

On what basis have you formed that impression?

All I have personally heard from Swann is that Crosisca is the only assistant contracted for 2008. I have also read a post on TC in which Swann reportedly said we woouldn't appoint an assistant that didn't meet with Ratten's approval.

That's true....Swannie said that in a MMM Interview on the weekend.

he did say we wouldn't appoint an assistant that didn't meet with Ratten's approval but also said ratten won't just be able to go out and pick his own assistant, there will need approval from the club.(which is commen sense)

this stemmed from earlier discussion about carlton and jobs for the boys which was raised with swann.

re - the assitances, sounds like a perfectly acceptable scenario.

they have to be approved by both the club and the coach. Sounds like the way it should be done.

My impression was based on the fact that the prospective coaches had a 2 hour prelim interview and that was it. It made me think that Swann and co. may have there minds made up regarding who they want to fill all positions. Not a big issue, but just after the Pagan Mitchell deal I would like Ratts to be surrounded by people he is totally comfortable with.
