I have a question......

In the first term after Fev ran down McVeigh and then they went toe to toe and McVeigh through a few jumper punches and then Fletcher came over and they both wrestled Fev to the ground while Fev had his arms out......

Why did the umpire get in Fev's face about it?

AND.......

Llyod, when he hit T-Bird in the head with his forearm, should he go or have I got my rose pedal glasses on?

Fletcher as third man in should be booked, shouldn't he?

Lloyd should also be booked for head high contact.

It's a disgrace they didn't get picked up, and if the 2 of them don't get picked up on video for striking, I have to say...

I know the one constant in my life....Carlton! :-D

The second constant is the umpires favouritism for The Bumbers cheap sniping!

Another article in the herald-sun yesterday buying the Sheedy bullsh!t. It said it was Essendon* who would walk away having seen more new signs whilst Carlton's win was all due to the established names. I don't think this could be further from the truth.

- Ackland and Cloke give us a new-look ruck division that is physical and competitive at both ends of the field
- We have a radically different defence based around the athleticism and speed of Setanta and Waitey (keeping lloyd to 2 goals should be highlighted as amongst the games of the round but the media silence has been deafening)
- Many more options through the midfield with Simpson and Murphy ready to take the step into the ranks of the elite
- Forward line with many options led of course by Fev

Very encouraging ... although I think both teams will finish in the bottom four again this year. This crap about Essendon* being a contender is pure hype.

It was interesting on 3AW on Sunday that even Rohan Connolly could see that Essendon* had 'lost' a bit and Carlton had come out much stronger than expected pre-game. Unfortunately any serious football discussion was quickly swamped by 75 minutes of hard-hitting gumpf about whether it's right or wrong to change your allegiance from one team to another.

Can anyone explain to me why Lloyd didnt even have a case to answer after his cheap hit on Thornton?

Well i finally got to watch the game last night.....................was very entertaining! Good hard football from both sides.

I was pretty pleased with how well we played for three quarters, which happened quite a few times last year. But yet again, we just fell away.

Watching it on TV, you miss so much on what's going on around the rest of the ground so it's hard for me to know just why we fell away.

We should have burried the Bombers in that 3rd qtr. In actual fact, i reckon if Cloke had have put that easy one through in the 3rd it would have sealed the game. But instead he sprayed it.

The was one point in the 4th when the commentators said that we had nobody up forward so Houla (pretty sure it was him) was forced to stand there and wait.
Again, you can't really tell by watching it on the idiot box.

Gee Kouta played the Bit Part to perfection didn't he?

All-in-all...................i'm semi-please with how we played.

He was trying to give him a tug on the ear and a kind slap to the cheek, only he was a little too enthusiastic on the first motion, and that was all she wrote.

Happens all the time - just ask Lisa.

Verdict: "It happens to every guy, don't worry about it."

best aspect to the game IMHO was the performance of the backline and its new found athletism.

Sentanta
Walks
Scotland
Waite
Thornton

can all run and play on different opponents. good verstility. no slow coaches

Murphy laid some really good & strong tackles aswell.
I loved those two big hits he took whilst waiting to get a bead on Fevs .. he got the bead, he hit the target, and he copped the shellacking ... if that doesn't make a champion my name is Skippy the Bush Kangaroo!

Mild Melbourne winter day at best. Busy town, (more pep than Beijing though not the grand heritage). Tonight was the first I heard of the Blues win so beers are going well at Astor House.

Cheers for coffee Taff.

I love it when I log on heart in throat and we have won, WON, WON.

Finally, I get a chance to sit at a computer & speak of beating the Bombers :-D A top night. During the 2nd quarter I was thinking it will be sweet to smash the Bombers, at games end it was even sweeter to beat them by less than a kick  What made the night for me was (by sheer luck) sitting in the aisle seats in the aisle where the coaching staff went up & down at the breaks & after the game. Early on, you could see the tension in the faces of all staff - Denis, Braddles, Ratts, TD, Libba, Dempsey, Crosisca & Big Sticks. At quarter time, a bit of relief that we had got off to a promising start. Half time was the best - coming back after the long break, Braddles started acknowledging the supporters who were cheering the coaching staff, smiling & waving. Sticks was chatting to TD & said 'Geez, how good's the tackling so far?'. Fair dinkum, this guys love of everything Navy Blue never ceases to amaze me. He had such an eager look on his face for the game, like he was just wanting it to end with us in front.
After the game when we gave them a huge cheer, it was back to the relieved look on their faces, with the occasional smile from Braddles & TD.
Bring on 07.
