If we have an experienced guy good enough to be worth pick 6 there's no way I'd trade him, especially given our holes in defence. I'm not sure the pick 6 is quite on the money though

I don't think it works that way jim. Just because a side is willing to give up a high pick (or two) for a player does not automatically make him worth it.

A player is a player not a 'ranking'. If a side believes it has had enough of a 'leg up' with draft picks then it may be willing to give up more for a player than what is considered his 'intrinsic' worth.

I reckon we're the two years of draft penalties behind Hawthorn.

Substitute the half dozen duds that are still only on our list because of the penalties and replace them with the half dozen new players that would now becoming established and we wouldn't be that dissimilar.

Oh well, If my Aunty had balls.....

Getting that for Hay would be like us getting that for Sporn. That ain't going to happen every day. That's just lucky that someone was stupid enough to take it. Thompson they did well from as he was going anyway. But to get a 1 & 2 round pick, well, you wouldn't expect that.

Why haven't we ever traded with the Roo's!!! Maybe we could get 2 1st rounders for Prendaghast.

Hmmm ...

In the past, one of the major problems for clubs like StKilda, Fitzroy and the Bulldogs, North Melbourne and even Richmond was that they kept trading away their best players. Usually this happened because of a players desire to play finals football and to get away from a club going nowhere. The more successful clubs would throw money at them and promise them sure success. These clubs became permanent bottom dwellers stuck in a catch 22 situation. The culture at these clubs remained unprofessional and pessimistic. The supporters would eat their own, breed negativity and unrest and the media would cash in on all the bad stories.

Its time for the Carlton Football Club and especially its supporters to take a stand. Not to be like those teams of the past. To look forward, to see positives, to not continually preach doom and gloom and to provide a begginning, an atmosphere, a hope. Its not about burying our heads in the sand ... but rather to come up with contructive criticism or praise when required.

All the bitching ... personal attacks on Players and Coaches needs to stop. It just reminds me so much of Richmond. I hate that for my club.

Try like hell to hang on to Thornton ... otherwise we will get caught up in a cycle that has trapped other clubs in the past. I have had a gutful of the negativity ... there are good times ahead ... we have many good young players ... don't believe what the media says ...

The strength of a club are its supporters. This is where we have to begin.

Carlton always.

Didn't we get Morrell and Teague for McKernan?

Talk about a stalemate.

Your kidding...they wont trade pick 6 for a player they can get for nothing in the PSD if they can convince him to take that route..we should be signing Thornton not thinking up trades for him...

Good post BlueRob..... a rare slice of positivity. A negative theme has spread itself like a cancer across this forum. Last step may be a change of background colours to yellow and black..... :(

We milked them for all we were worth with McKernan and Teague winning a B & F before crasing and burning. Digby was reasonable value too. I reckon we had some wins there.

So if you have a Jade Rawlings or a Jon Hay (Read Lance)footy slipping him by...)...andyou dont trade him because a couple of our supporters are sensitive and trading into the future needs balls???
NEGLIGENT!

We cant afford to pussy foot around... cos thats what we have been doing.

On the other hand a kid who is 22 .. does all the right things... takes all the front line forwards .. is in the same age group as most of our young team..who plays and trains like he cares.. and we have invested almost 100 games into is traded???... we need our heads examined.

Its all about choosing your mark.

I still reckon we won that one.

McKernan had all the footballing prowess of an empty pez dispenser.

What the F#CK are you on about Synners????? Is it so painful for you to see a couple of people say G'day???

For Christs sake, give it rest. I'm really at a total loss to see what you are attacking that was in BlueRob's or my post.

"I like his outlook" .... what is wrong with that???

Where was Lance mentioned??? Where did I say that Thornbird should be traded??? Your obsession with Lance, Kouta & Denis has become a joke!! We all know what you think!! A million posts with the same message have made us all aware of your OPINIONS.

Give a rest PLEASE ….. why not try letting a few positive posts slide without you imposing your obsessive feelings upon them. They're harmless posts.

Yeah fair enough but it's like putting $2 on the winner of race 6 and it pays $1.04.

We have to take what we can get, given our trade history.

It's better than the $800 bucks (the pick used on Barry Hall) we pissed up the wall putting it on the nose of the 500-1 shot (Craig Davenport)

I've decided to minimise my time spent at TC as a result of the manic depression displayed by some during this time. I'd suggest you do the same uncle john.
