I think we already got ourselves a few good ones to add to 2016 for 2017.
Marchbank
Smedts
Palmer
Pickett
Byrne

All in our best 22 with Murphy and
We still have the draft to come.
Pick 5 and maybe 23 should be in the mix.
along with another preseason for
McKay
Curnow
Silvagni
Cuningham
Boekhurst
Sumner

We have a good new young group coming through in our best 22 along with Cripps Weitering Plowman Docherty.
There's 16 from the top of my head.

Out with the old and in with the new.

Bolton did say 2017 was going to have a more attacking edge compared to 2016.
In my mind that means more outside run to break the lines and improvement in forward entry strategies.

I hope Jaksch trains like a monster this preseason and earns a spot otherwise there's plenty ahead of him now.

I'm guessing you think Sumner is ahead than Wright. In talent? Not 0n 2016 form.

It is looking quite exciting.
Now for Bolton to gel this team to make it a stronger attacking team now that team defense and some outside speed has been sorted.
Plus pick 5 & 23 and,
like you I'd like a DFA or two who don't cost us a pick (but will cost a spot for Graham), in order Barlow, Henderson, Grigg, Litherland, Green...even Richards, Barrett, Langford, Tape.

Good teams..

What I think our best 22 is right now and what will prob be a round 1 team (minus Byrne)

Plowman Rowe Bryne
Docherty Weitering Marchbank
Simpson Cripps Kerridge
Armfield Casboult Palmer
Silvagni C.Curnow Thomas
Kreuzer Gibbs Murphy
Pick 5, E.Curnow, Wright, Buckley

What I hope/wish our best 22 will be:

Plowman Marchbank Byrne
Docherty Weitering Simpson
Cunningham Cripps Pick 5
Pickett C.Curnow Palmer
Sumner McKay Silvagni
Phillips Gibbs Murphy
Kreuzer, Pick 25, E.Curnow, Kerridge

It's an interesting discussion, but somewhat moot at this stage of development. I suspect most weeks we won't be fielding our absolutely best 22 on the day. But we'll be fielding teams with a strong development focus for another couple of years. Which means we'll almost certainly be going too tall most of 2017. Because we need to put games into our developing talls. And I suspect that means, like it or not, we'll keep putting games into Phillips. And because Kreuzer is never going to play at reserves level when fit, that means 2 ruckman most weeks.

I'm a big fan of Wright, actually, and in rnd. 1 he'd replace Byrne in the squad (Buckley to go back, Cunningham to the wing and Wright to the bench).
But if we're selecting with an eye to the future, he's 23rd man.

Going to bring you boys down just a tad. Sorry.

Marchbank is perenially injured.

Pickett has never played senior footy

Mackay has never played senior footy.

Byrne may never come back to what we all hoped he would be.

Otherwise its all rose coloured glasses. C'mon everything is clear. !

Mackay has never played senior footy. is 2cm taller than when injured and body never felt better and ready for a preseason. has one under his belt.

Byrne may never come back to what we all hoped he would be. running straight from a BP and HBF may be the perfect position for him. Hang on.

Its the same for every player and every team...a bit of luck goes a long way.

Lets hope things swing our way for a change.

Injury's are a major part of football these days. With all this new age wizzbang training and state of the art medical /physio stuff it is a complete mystery to me.I seriously dont get it.What the effing hell is going on ?....................anyhow,in that regard we are probably no better or worse than any other club so its just lady luck.Bringing in guys with injurys aint a problem to me.If the guy has the basic talent then its worth the risk.Shit,McKay was gonna be a super star.Five minutes in the joint and he was ratshit.Bad luck, you either reckon they have what it takes or you dont. And you reckon they do then you roll the dice.

The fact that McKay has grown another 2-3cm whilst suffering from stress fractures I think suggests the two are related.

I'm not fussed with his injury and I still believe that he will be a gun forward in time

My recollections of Scott Gumbleton was that he suffered recurring hamstring issues, which as with other soft tissue injuries are difficult to recover fully from.

I also believe that people questioned whether Selwood could overcome his injuries issues as a junior.

I'm still very confident

Gee that's harsh.

Give the guy at least one more season to see how he is progressing
