I agree about round 1, but it didn't happen then, it happened in the practice game. I know this is the AFL and a level playing field is not a high priority for them, but this is a simple fix, you can't disadvantage the 4 clubs, and extend the deadline until say tonight. I am sure the club has a pretty good idea of who they would take and don't really need much time.[/quote]

Agree.
Key words…you use - LEVEL PLAYING FIELD

So there is one rule for 16 clubs and another for Carlton & Melbourne.

Seems “equitable”

Imagine if Collingwood had an injury on same day as Carlton. They would open up the window to add to your list faster than you could say .. “hello, Eddie.”

Mick its just plain stupidity by the AFL.

Unusual and extraordinary is when young Melbourne player Troy Broadbridge who tragically died in the Tsunami back in December 2024, that was extraordinary, but this is just plain old stupid scheduling by the AFL.

We should be able to replace Jagga with another SSP.

Next week its back to a level playing field

I wonder which already injured and injury prone player we can find and sign from the State Leagues - when the AFL re-open the SSP period for us.

No they asked Cripps about Curnow. Cripps says he is super fit so will step in straight away when ready. Unlikely in rnd 1, but he will be ready if rnd 2 or 3. Whenever.

The Age just took that and ran with it.

Who knows whether to believe this:

Trent Masenhelder
@tmase04
Breaking: @StevoMedia tells @RSNBreakfast, Nic Newman is well ahead of schedule and could be back as soon as July.

Hopefully it will kill the one vs two ruck debate for a while!

Harry won't be backup ruck if he's the only key forward in the team!

More frustrating news on the injury front for Carlton fans…

Corey Durdin has suffered an ankle sprain/syndesmosis injury.

Fortunately, the small forward has avoided surgery, but will likely still be out of action for at least the first couple of rounds.
