Cerra had a big game against the Pies last time. He'll be confident coming up against them.
I know we're all pissed about Owies but his workrate is first class. From memory he's the one who won the ball at half back and kicked the ball that Charlie marked. His last kick was terrible but he would have been wasted after the running he had done over 4 quarters. Especially the last few minutes.
Give me that over a lazy forward standing up the ground doing @#$%&! all, anytime.

Last week .

No, this week is bigger than last week by a country mile, but I know what you mean.

I feel like standing room is sometimes released late in the week leading up, but perhaps this has already sold out too.

Standing room tickets were available last week, they are also sold out.

Selection is going to be super interesting on Fri (less so on Thu of course....)
TBH, I think Voss will separate out the stuff-ups in the last frantic minute or two from the work rate and performances up to that point.
And in terms of the stuff-ups, I think he will differentiate between lack of class Vs just a brain fade/teaching moment.
The most important thing for us this week will be 100% effort, 100% of the time. Anyone Voss is concerned about on that front will be out.
The next criteria will be class finishing, which is the crack that Williams might be able to squeeze through (provided he doesn't compromise on the effort point above if his training has been geared towards playing this week).
It will be interesting to see what happens with O'Brien given his ability to cover the large MCG expanse (running and kicking). I think he stays in for this reason but will be given a rocket in terms of lifting his contribution.
I feel like Motlop and Newnes are vulnerable.

FWIW, I was pleasantly surprised with the more innovative coaching moves against the Demons than I had come to expect. Hope that continues.

Yeah he laid the smother too IIRC.

Look at the end of the day the whole side needs to pull their digits out and not muck up. The LOB tap, the Owies kick, the Newnes dropped mark. Everyone needs to be accountable and perform. It is time to make it happen.

It'll be funny if they spend a whole hour practicing 15m stationary kicks at some stage this week

The footage post game, Voss with 3 other coaches/officials, I'd love to be a fly on the wall.

"HOW THE @#$%&! DID WE LOSE THAT????"

It’s because it’s sudden death like a final but if we lose we can’t take solace in making finals

Owies presents a selection dilemma for me along with some other players.
The problem is not them, its me.

Owies, Durdin and Motlop were not in my best side before Round 1.
I pigeon holed them, so that's my backdrop.

Owies' stats speak for themselves. He is first class in many metrics.
Owies stats, including 1%ers are well ahead of Motlop and Durdin.
Owies is much older and more physical than them, and he can lay a tackle.
I'd like him to be a bit quicker for the small forward position, but he's the best we've got.

I can't believe the number of people with general admission memberships have only realised they cannot rock up on Sunday and get in.
The club sent an email weeks ago telling them to upgrade to a seat, for as little as $8, to make sure they will get in.

I really hope the club don’t bring in De Koning this week! The pies run and run…. we need an extra small
Not a resting Ruck because if there run clicks they can score very quickly.

So, we can expect 100,000?

All depends on how many reserved seat members turn up along with MCC and AFL members.

Easier said than done

How do we "crowd" their forward 50 with our players and then isolate their players at the same time in a one on one in our forward 50?

Their loose numbers are going to be standing in no man's land are they? Far far too smart and way more disciplined than that (and more disciplined that us, we have the edge in talent).

The last I can remember serious build up to Carlton Collingwood was both games in 92

I would go:

In: de Koning, Cerra, Williams
Out: Pittonet, Owies, Newnes

Pittonet against Melbourne looked terrible. He was slow and cumbersome. Gawn gave him a bath. It wasn't just that last kick from Owies. His disposal was woeful all night. There were several instances in the second quarter where he fluffed it up. Yeah, he can tackle, but I would rather someone that did something with the ball not without it. Newnes is unlucky. I would rather have Williams in though.

B: Saad, Young, McGovern
HB: Marchbank, Weitering, Williams
C: Cottrell, Cripps, O'Brien
HF: Martin, Curnow, Fisher
F: Silvagni, McKay, Durdin
Foll: de Koning, Docherty, Walsh
Int: Setterfield, Cerra, Motlop, Stocker
Emerg: Pittonet, Owies, Newnes, Dow

I am concerned Voss has chopped and changed the rucks a lot and as a result the rucks are very unsettled

He has been quick to drop players this year which I kind of like but at the same time it can have negative consequences
