If we are going to win its obvious we need goals from the following guys

Levi
Graham
Everitt
Boakhurst
Lamb
Gibbs
Murphy
Kedge
Cripps
Walker
Wright

Positive is we havent kicked a lot of goals in the Nab challenge but we havent conceded a whole lot either.

We have goal kicking midfielders that need to hit the scoreboard that is what will get us over the line against Richmond.

I feel confident we can match or maybe even beat them in the midfield. Defence should hold up if Rowe is ignored as often as possible.

Our inability to score will mean we won't win.

We wont score with a traditional forward line but expect to see Kedge, Cripps, Murph, Gibbs role through the forward line and hopefully hit the scoreboard.
Graham and Boak can kick goals, Everitt when switched on has a great set shot for goal which was non existant in the NAB challenge. Wright can kick goals given half a chance and we need Lamb & Bucks to take any half chances that come their way.

Obviously if we can get Krueze and Levi to kick 3 each that would go a long way to us winning.

Our forward line will get better as the season goes on.

As for Thursday night we just need a spread of goal kickers and if you look at the Hawks thats exactly what they have and will be what Bolts will be encouraging.

That's about spot on. I just can't see how we can kick a winning score. Unless multiple players score career highs in goals. Can't see it happening.

I think our midfield will be very competitive - but Jamo is on his last legs and Rowe isn't AFL quality.

With so many scores coming from rebounds out of our attacking 50 - our forward line will cost us a lot more goals this year than it produces.

If you can't get hold of the ball and keep it, you don't win many.

I think we will get much more of the ball than Richmond, but in the NAB we gave the ball back a lot which lead to a lot of easy opposition goals.

Fix that and we will give our mids and forwards more opportunities, score more and get scored against less.

all good points raised guys :)

Lids out is massive. When he missed last year Richmond looked as bad as us.
Out of 9 games Lids has missed, Richmond have won twice - both v Lions. Credit to Scoop on Twitter

With Lids out if we can detain Jack and Dusty's influence on the game we can win

Around the ground they are not that much better than us.

Dont underestimate how important Lids is to them they really struggle for whatever reason when he doesnt play.

Houli struggles when he has to do all the running and delivering out of the backline.

Houli's kick inside 50 to a 2 on 1 in our favour was the turning point of the elimination final :)

Ran through the centre circle with all the time in the world and the best he could muster was a kick to Scotto, Walker & a Richmond bloke.

The rest was history

Em desperate quoting the Scooper Pooper :donk - even the Poopers mates from Xavier cant believe he is taken seriously as a commentator : but at least on deledio it is another quality player missing

Our problem is kicking goals as identified by all - apart from Walker no one has a capacity to kick a bag of goals and even he may not have that capacity anymore - difficult seeing us manufacturing enough goals

We'll find the goals. Our mids will run i50 and kick them themselves. Don't need a key forward when we dominate the run and carry.

Cripps, Curnow, Kreuz, Gibbs, Murphy, Kerridge, Walker, Simmo, Boak, Everitt, Buckly, Casboult

If they all kicked 1 each there's 12

They have to sook who relies on a midfield of 1

The Deledio factor:

Since 2008 without Deledio they are 2-7.

So we won't win but we should be competitive and push Richmond a bit. They have a lot of under rated players and they have Jack who could tear us a new one. (Knowing us it will be Vickery who dominates his only game for the year)

Trying not to get my hopes up before the game even starts but does anybody else get the feeling the karma train is going in our direction

I'm heading to the game expecting to lose. Sneaky feeling we could pull an upset.

Wasn't that interested before today, but kids pressured me into getting tickets and now I'm pumped.

We will smash Richmond on the inside, it's the outside run we need to stop, that's where they usually win against us.

Limiting Ellis and Houli are keys, Deledio is a huge bonus for us being out.

I'd be putting Weitering straight onto Reiwoldt. Get our mids to pressure and harass theirs from minute 1.

With the tiggers, you just need to get inside their heads and it's as good as over. Don't them them bully us like they did last year - hit back hard.
