while i agree we should ahve beaten brissy ... our list is right down there and were only talking degrees of difference.. not anything substantial

their midfield going forward is better than ours and its certainly been getting a transfusion....
theyre certainly not relying on the same blokes they did 5 years ago....

when ur dealing with degrees of difference...and youthfulness anything can happen on the day

thats why we play games of footy.. 22/24 rounds... because if we were ranking teams we wouldnt play the rounds and the finals to see what happens .. we would give the cup to the number 1 ranked club...
Thats the adventue of sport.. its why the doggy/ stkilda/ melbourne/ tigers amd carlton supporters rock up to the footy....

you dont agree???

Yes i totally agree. But for years i was told it was the coaches job to get the best out of his team.
Too many bad options taken for a team that should be well drilled. Murphy for example. His effort was top notch and his running both ways was great and he lead with that. He didnt have a tag and racked up possessions but he didnt play a great game. His use of the ball when attacking was poor and possessions were wasted.
We were inefficient. Mick said it himself. We have been for years. We get no bang for our buck. You can see us appear to do everything well for large slabs of play and see our score barely tick over.
This is the coach. He has to find a way to get a win against teams inferior too us. He got outcoached you have to agree.

we desrve to be where we finish up.....

u have to plan ... we didnt....
we have done very little right...

this is like 2001.... we were shocked to be sitting there...
why?

because very little planning was done....

these things are not accidents... they happen over a long period of time.. years of ballsups and misjudgement
there was a great opportunity when we were getting 2 early picks per year to get the salary cap under control and draft and development.. as well as coaching

but we didnt... so were here again

only this time were competing with 18 clubs.. and no priority pick...

once u choose a player in the draft u have to wait a long long time for your next go.....

i think we have seen the last of the flags in our life times...

you yiunger ones never even saw a flag... suffer in your jocks!!!

We are stuffed.

....but that is not what i am on about. I am on about not winning last night even when we had a superior team. Our list wouldnt beat many but Brisbane's is one. How did we lose? Not drilled well enough. A gameplan that is inefficient. Not defensive enough around the stoppages. All points to not having a good week as a coach.

Coming on a fansite and going on about lack of depth or what years drafted players were not out there is all well and good. Big picture and all that but lets not overlook the fact there are problems that are small picture staring us in the face.

Mick should have dragged them all in a room LAST Wednesday and said you just lost to brisbane. Waite you did something silly. Garlett you got a couple of goals but did not much else. Gibbsy you didnt turn up. As a team we made bad decisions when we has momentum. We fell asleep and let them get a lead before we fired up. They wore our punches and punished us on the rebound. We were slack around stoppages. We got a couple of bad umpiring decisions go against us and we lost. How do you all feel?

we dont win because he cant threaten to even drop them....
who do u drop for a guy like lucas.. or watson???

u see... the problem we have with our reserves (looked crap v coburg and made to show themselves as second rate) is this.... (and i hate people that wanna see reserves write ups.....) ... in the reseves we have guys who we dont even know who they are... because they cant put up their hand to be considered afl worthy (temay we know.... just nobody else knows him..... )... or we dont wanna know them....

its weird isnt it club?

that nobody can be ushed for competition of spots...

have u ever known anything like it???
have u ever seen a club with 5 injuries... and still only play 3 guys from the last 5 years drafts taken with the top 3 rounds???

i dont think thats ever been the case before

so if youre going to be forced to play guys who arent fit...buckley and carrazzo.. guys who shouldnt ever be playing waite... and a guy who cant play 100 minutes of afl footy yet.. menzel...
im not sure what u expect....

the key thing here to me ... is 3 players from the last 5 drafts taken in the first 3 rounds....one of whom is rowe...

uncanny ... that that can happen

what other club has that kind of hole on their list???

any idea???

mciness ... he has to take whites place but hes lesser
watson .... dreaming
holman.. all for giving games but what for?
graham .. jordan doering 2014 edition.. wont hurt u with his possessions.. slow as treacle. wont hold his feet and has been getting cheap kicks out the back without any spead

yeah i see.... u mean for early picks.. im with u

Game plans , running it through the corridor and scoring efficiency takes a skilled list. Carlton hace not got one. The only kids not playing last night that any where near ready are graham and cripps. Malthouse brought in docherty, thomas, everettt and developed menzel, buckley, warnock, white and rowe. I struggle to name that much development under the previous regime. Let him take all the heat why we rebuild. It is beyond a win loss ratio over the next 3 years

Look...I've seen 2 quarters of Northern Blues this year and won't see anymore...but it's not about form. That's 80's thinking..."Surely Brad Shine has to get a game next week". It's about the smaller tangibles...but leave a kid like Graham in there and he gets too used to reserves footy...the pace is different, the body contact is different...it's almost a different game.

Roll the dice...let then acclimatize to senior footy...don't waste them away in an inferior competition with a coach who's not entirely sure what he's doing!

Seen 8 flags in my lifetime. Would never have believed if someone had told me what lay ahead for the once great club. No reason we can't win another flag in the next 10 years, but the culture must change from the ground up, and must start now. Hopefully the new Pres and CEO help start that process.

As long as the Bummers don't beat us to the 17th.

Don't hold your breath. Changes are coming but I very much doubt they're champagne popping changes.

yes and no

but if u cant run a game out in the vfl
or you cant follow instructions
or fillow simple patterns youre not going to be able to do it at the next step

those guys wont make it.... giles ... we dont know.. hes a tall... but right now getting outbodied by 88 kilo guys from coburg means that in the next tier up... he might end up psychologically scarred

graham plays to get as many kicks that dont hurt...as possible....

he has zero effect factor .. and to get a chance needs to change his game

im not too sure theyre looking for the next jordan doering in our ones...
