Worth every cent. Do the Scum have to pay for new jumpers for Judd and Murphy?

I would have said that those jumpers could actually fetch a fair bit more on the charity auction/eBay market than some regular ones.

What pleased me so much about this match was the hardness displayed. God, we've been crying out for some of that for years. Bell, Casboult and Waite; all hard (that word again) players who run straight had a few red and black short steppers looking around to check where these guys were. A bit different from the first time we played them this year. I'll bet Jobe Watson was wishing young Belly had spent the whole of the game on the bench! Had to feel just a little sorry for Jobe, he was one of the few Bombers having a go, then Bell comes on and crunches him.

Funny isn't it, add a couple of young blokes with a bit of vigour plus Waitey and amazing how various others start to walk taller. Finally Robbo's not the only one; will probably prolong his career too now there are others who can dish out some hits. All the aforementioned plus Brocky playing well, gee Juddy must think it's Christmas.

I'm trying to keep a lid on it, let's face it, Essendon* have been pretty poor for some time now. But gee the future suddenly looks pretty good, roll on 2013.

The Yarran votes surprise me TBH. Must have been from Hird, a pat on his own back for succeeding in playing Yarran loose at Half-Forward. Oh, hang on...........

From their pre-game thread

Melksham still in the team?

McBurney umpiring?

An MCG full of chocko scum fans carrying on?

Pretty much made my decision not to attend this weekend.

Classy lot aren't they?

I think it was because Yarran had more effective kicks in one passage of play than Jetta, Melksham, Davey and Morefrees had all game.

BTW, it's gotta be said that the way we flew the flag for each other was beautiful to see. One of 2012's low-lights to me was seeing NO-ONE stand up after Carrots got crunched, and it was good to see we weren't going to let that shit fly anymore. And not only that, but to then demoralise them and show them up for the soft-****'s they really are. EXTREMELY pleasing!

Now we just need to show that same boldness and lack of fear against teams like Hawthorn and Norf.

Just watching the replay and a couple of things stand out.

Hurley is an awesome player.
Heppell is an absolute pea heart.

So I hope we dont hear any more of that "Bryce Squibbs" shit from the ferals from Windy Hill.

Are you serious about Hurley - he outmarks Nick Reiwoldt once in a one on one contest and everyone thinks he is the second coming.

Don't know about the Nick R stuff but on Saturday his side was pummeled and his contested marking was very impressive. If the Bombers had delivered it better he'd have had 15 marks.

Acts like an A grade flog but he's got some serious Barry Hall/ Tony Lockett attitude and ability.

Kicked poorly.

It's not only Heppells softness it's that he doesn't chase or get anywhere near getting his hands dirty.

Good young player - but overrated by many.
Not athletic enough to be like a Riewolt/Franklin/Pavlich type, not big enough to be a Jonathon Brown/Tom Hawkins type.

Watched him closely (in between visits to the members' bar) and thought he was a real threat. Shit kick though.

Gibbsy puts a late hit on at the hooter then trots away. WWIII ensues, every player and their first born or unborn sons gets fined except Gibbsy. Nah, pretty sure they'll be calling him a squib more than ever...
