Agreed.

We could try and develop Kruezer to be that possibly and use Hampson and Warnock as the ruckman.

Kruezer, Walker, Waite, Betts, Garlett and Gibbs up forward. Although I'd be happy if we could get a forward (ready to go not one that needs developing).

Extremely brave effort from the boys tonight! Geez its frustrating though...

They had a lot of luck tonight with the two goals that fell over the line by millimetres, the BS bounce that went towards goal and Army couldn't get a finger on, the 1 second delay drop kick after a tackle which ended in a goal (how Robinson didn't get a free - WTF!), the left foot kick off the ground by McGinnity, the BS Duigan v LeCras (yet another horrible decision), Davies utter stupidity (FFS Davies, that is rediculous!)!!! That's seven goals!!

And at the other end, aside from the bounce that landed in Garlett's lap I can't think of any other lucky goal we got? Then we lose T-Bird at half time and their potential injuries all come back on and play well....And a couple of Murph's misses (particularly from 20 out) and Simmo out on the full from 40 (unacceptable). Then Walker in the goal square to top it off... The amount of BS frees in the first half set them up, then nothing in the second half. That is a digrace...

I'm extremely proud of the boys but unfortunately everything went the Weagles way..

Bring on 2012 and a top 4 finish cos it's near on impossible to win a flag from 5-8 possie....

West Coast's strength and conditioning chemists have their first year players as built as Murphy and their previously injury prone players have all been fine this year.

Starting to look a bit like those teams from the mid 90s that had the help of Matt Barber.

This may be unfair, but had we picked up Darling instead of Watson, we would have won this game quite comfortably.

This reminds me of the whole "if only we'd picked Rich instead of Yarran" epic, (which seems to have gone strangely quiet this year).
Give Watson a couple of years and then see what you think.

Edit - Just read Kouta's post, (shouldn't have skipped a page  ).
In that case Kouta -- + 1 !

The only things that quell the disppointment are the fact that.

A. We are far far better then this time last year.
B. I doubt we would have beaten Geelong or Collingwood and it in all likelyhood has not cost us a flag.

Still disappointed we don't get another MCG game against the Cats.

But we get a full pre season for Kruezer this year and Waite can recover properly. Be up and ready for our Thursday clash with Richmond next season.

If we get the three years of finals bad luck paid back to us all at once next season. Heaven help whoever is in our way come September.

Some perspective on the match ...
No Curnow
No Gibbs
No Kreuzer
No Waite
No Hampson

As Parkin often states: the team that enters the finals with the least injuries tend to win

We'll be the first AFL club to get #17, lock it in.

We would have beaten Geelong.

There is no evidence to suggest we would have beaten the Pies other than that it would have been a GF so the weigh of history would have been with us.

We were only a fit Bryce Gibbs OR fit Hampson OR fit Waite OR fit Kruezer from winning.

If we had have won, we would have beaten the Cats at the G next week but we would have been humilated by Collingwood in the big one.

Good to see Robbo best for us. Along with Murphy, Robbo's step up this year has been a shining light.

Cox, Kerr, Buddy should not be compared to Waite, Jamo, Gibbs & Kreuzer. You are comparing Master Jedi's with their apprentices. Kennedy is on his way and is a better player than all the guys you mentioned too.

What shits me is that the pies played WC last week and struggled to beat them without Kerr and Cox (for most of the game). Why do the Pies have good luck and we don't. It shits me.

A) yes we need a key forward. But kreuzer ain't it. He is a brilliant follower and a crap key forward. Can kick a couple of goals while resting forward but he should be on the ball as much as possible, even as ruck rover. Think Waite, setanta, casboult, thornton, hampson, can do the job.

B) Henderson is great down back and should probably stay there next year. bUT there may be a time to swing him forward - several examples of champion CHFs who learnt their craft playing at CHB. perhaps once Watson comes on a bit more?

C) THIS YEAR: we made masive strides this year: strung >3 wins together, smashed weaker opponents, never got smashed ourselves, mostly didn't drop games to weaker teams (exc Essendon* draw and bulldogs and maybe stk rd24).
NEXT YEAR: win all the close ones (we beat Adelaide 6pts & stk 3pts but lost to Geelong 2pts & drew w Ess); beat all weaker teams; beat other ;-) top4 teams.

D) ...and goal kicking must improve.

Add (any of) a fit kreuzer, Waite, Gibbs, Russell (?), hampson, bower to that team and I reckon we win.

I AM CARLTON!
2012 IS CARLTON!

This.
Nothing went our way.

But the boys kept trying, time after time when I thought there must be no time left they pushed forward anyway.

And the prize for second stupidest thing we've heard all night goes to BS for this gem

As good as MM is his 2 misses really hurt and did rob us of momentum. Terrible technique, leans over to a side when he kicks.

Eagles slot them from all angles all night, MM misses 2 gimme set shots, Simpson (worst set shot at club) misses another set shot, Setanta another.

Even if one of those goes through we win.

Phooey!

So you want us to develop Kreuzer as a forward but you don't want us to get a forward that needs developing? :? I'd certainly rather us have a back-up plan for our future than get a kick in the groin.

Have to wonder how much that big hit in the 1st took out of Scotland as he didn't have his usual impact after that.

Takes a few years for big key forwards to come on.
Wouldn't write k off yet as a forward. If the club decide to go down that road I am sure he
Will produce .

The minute Razor Ray was selected to umpire, we knew we'd lose...

dont think there was a hell of a lot missing that wasn't injured or carrying an injury that has been showing any sort of form other than Maclean
Hammer apparently had rolled his ankle
Russell been eating to much Macca's
Bower hasn't shown anything all year
Curnow down on form
Waite Injured
Gibbs Injured
Kruez injured
Hoops played a blinder yesterday but been down all year
Watson not ready
Austin all at sea this level

So who replaces the weak links ???

We lost this game at the recruitment table - One player who played last night should have been put out to pasture years ago - And last night showed why
