Na, Duigan has been one of the main reasons our backline has done so well. He's an automatic, so Bower or Laidler would simply make way.

I'm going to have to start a thread about players being "an automatic".

I agree with a few others who have posted earlier. I'm also thinking Austin will be required due to the likes of Lynch, Darling, Kennedy and Nic Nat/Cox pushing forward. We look a big guy short otherwise.

can anyone a bit closer to the club offer some thoughts on where P Bower is in terms of his career and how he is regarded by the MC ???

A relatively high draft pick who currently seems to have lost his spot in the pecking order badly????

ps. if you would have told me 18 months ago that Austin and Thornton would be playing ahead of Bower, I would have sent you to the psychiatrist !

Would be a fairly slow midfield otherwise. That Ellard scores more goals than the other two probably gives him a bit more versatility in the eyes of the MC if they decided to experiment and drop him for McLean.

Otherwise, it would have to be injuries or we start resting and rotating towards the end of the year.

Bower has struggled with injury over the past 2 seasons. I think the MC want him to regain touch at VFL level before he gets back in, they probably made the mistake last season of putting him back in at AFL level and he struggled. He'll need to beat out Thornton for a place.

As to how he's regarded at the club...very highly. He'll be given every opportunity.

our midfield will dominate theirs making it difficult for them to isolate their forwards one on one.

our speed will then allow us to run off them at will

still taking a while for people to understand the modern game

So Duigan is out, I hope Laidler is back. Vision of him training indoors on the jumper day with a knee heavily bandaged. If not Laidler, Bower. I think against this mob we can play three larger backmen.

Anyway, Jamo goes to Josh, Houlihan goes to Hurn and Russell follows Le Cras everywhere. Le Cras has been playing up the ground in the mid field more this year, just like Jordy.

The Weagles can then worry about our other, 18 + sub, players.

People trash Knockers for the missed goal, but turn it around. He is such an awkward size that that is why he got the free kick. Corey or whoever couldn't get to the ball so hit him in the head. In a forward press like these guys supposedly play, his height, resting down in the forward line will be important. He has proven that he can take marks in the forward line, just please, keep making the contest. Has he played 50 games yet? (Also the hugs for some reason has a crush on him so it is easier to get her involved with footy when he is playing. And she has a crush on Walker and Juddy and Duigan and Gibbs and Hammer and.... Got to keep her away from the changerooms).

Our defence is a team. It is so much more noticeable this year. Thornton has stood up and is a vital part. I reckon it is his spot to lose. In saying that, so long as the defence keep handpassing it to Yaz, all is good in the world.

I reckon at the start of the year, you could have imagined our forward line as Hendo, Waite, Eddie, Jeff, resting ruckman and Walker. I doubt there is a team out there that could handle that combo. That to me looks the right blend of height and speed.

Ahh options. Go Blues.

Oh yeah. Please don't bronx cheer Carlton players. We don't do that.

Onya SM f BM

I reckon you have described Warnock's attributes perfectly.
He is awkward, that's exactly why took the mark and got the free for a smack in the gob; goes to show, you can smack blokes and concuss them and no one says a thing.

Warnock may just be that magic ingredient that shakes Cox and Nic Nats' foundations.

Thanks for the food for thought.

Like you say...just give it to Yaz...everyone's role is to shepherd to the 50 and he'll just pop 'em through the big sticks.

I expect Warnock and Armfield in for Hammer and Duigan.

Good to see MC rating O'Keefe (yes I'm gobsmacked and rapt) and Austin. Psych will be rapt too
We're blessed. God I hope I see 'em this Sunday in Melbourne.

Carlton by 69 points. 10 goals.

I'm not a beer drinker, so much so I'm ignorant as to how much they go for. If the price is comparable could I have 2 Cokes? Or, actually, 1 Coke and 1 raspberry lemonade. I'll mix it up a bit.

I don't believe it but I heard it.

I just heard Austin might play CHB.

Russell to continue to play his recent big bodied midfield role.
Releases Gibbs from CHB to play as Mr Fix It.
TBird as the 3rd tall.
Jamo takes JK up to CHB but not the wings. Mixes is it with Austin.

We are still a fast team without Armfield.

Who would have thought we can cover Laidler, Duigan our in form ruckman and Waite?

At most they will have 3 talls forward. Kennedy, Lynch and Cox/nitnat. Darling and Lecras can be handled by Touhy /Russ /Yaz.

Kennedy - jamo
Lynch - Gibbs (He handles goodes. I reckon he will have Lynch out of that forward line in a quarter and half . Gibbs will murder him at ground level so unless he gets unbelievable service i reckon Gibbs will slaughter him.)
Thornton - Cox / nic nat.

We dominate the first quarter by winning the clearances and contested ball and put so much pressure on them that their forward line gets no decent service. From there they start swapping there forwards around and dont go back to 3 talls. Height not an issue and we still have a running sub up our sleave to help sustain that pressure we all love . A running player we wouldnt have if we fear their height and bring in Austin.
