Great ground.

Nearly got my head kicked in there.

Mum saved me.

I was 8...

Night games there were positively dangerous, and some men didn't even bother going to the toilet for a leak...........

The VFL should have taken over and developed the Lakeside Oval rather than building VFL Park

The Victorian Government should have stuck with the original plan of redeveloping Princes Park for the Main Olympic Stadium for the 1956 Melbourne Olympics and Carlton would have had a 100,000 seat stadium since 1956 - damn that John Cain Snr.

I understand where you are coming from AGRO, the Blues did get treated very poorly.

However I see it as a blessing in disguise. Not sure whether you saw any of the plans for the stadium, but it was a monstrosity. It made Waverly look beautiful. It was typical 50s architecture. It looked like something out of an early David Lynch film, all uniform and industrial.

It would have been bulldozed within 25 years of being built.

Just like Docklands/Colonial/Telstradome/Etihad Stadium will be - when the roof cant be opened/closed and it will be too costly to fix.

Dare I say it:
Maybe our membership team can study what Richmond did this season, and learn from them ...??

Our total looks disappointing so far.

That will help no end

But until that ends, we need to be a regular finals campaigner - win more games than you lose, play finals at the MCG will go a long way until No.17 comes our way

I tend to disagree.
I think we have a fairly complacent supporter base who just seem to think that we will always be a financial powerhouse based on our past.
We don't seem to have captured the imagination of the juniors.......most of our supporters seem to be from our successful period...lates 60's to mid 90's. The Hawks, Saints and Pies have really latched onto the current generation.

We have a lot of catching up to do

I tend to disagree with you.
We have a large amount of juniors. I can't find the figures but I remember seeing junior member figures and we were right up there. I can't see why you picked Hawks and Saints as examples for juniors either. (I need the stats for the Hawks) and we know how St Kilda treats their juniors....

Pies have always been bigger and now are alot bigger largely on the back of winning a premiership.

If we win a premiership we would experience simlar growth.

Rang up today to find out how much it was to get a membership for my 5 yo daughter who is keen to go to some games with me

I asked to price me a reserved seat H&A on level 1 with me and i was given two options

1. $233
or
2. $270 with a Captain Carlton package as well

As i am already paying upwards of $900 for me and another one of my kids I thought it was too expensive, so its general admin when I take the 5 yo

Can you just take out a 3 game membership for her and if you have a reserved seat she can sit in your lap?

Good point Agro, I will ring back tomorrow and ask the question for a 3 gamer as I was only going to take her to the Brissie and Sydney games

Maybe you should head up the membership department, as there were no alternative suggestions thrown my way

My gut feel is that we have sold very few 3 game memberships and struggle to sell premium memberships due to lack of value .

We need an urgent review how it is possible to be so far behind our rivals in a year we have started so well. If I was on the Board I would be asking a lot of questions. Actually might bring this up at the next AGM.

But as I mentioned, the Captains Clubs / Premium Seats are crap at Ethihad (level 2 / deep pocket) with the "Club" as far away as possible downstairs opposite. The Bars on level 2 are all reserved for Cotterie groups and Access One / MCC - no Bar for CC premium members . Where we are sitting, there are lots of free seats (in the premium area) and I am not surprised. The seats at the G are great but most home games are at Ethihad. I think many ppl who buy memberships become disappointed and do opt out the next.
