Spoke with an official at the club this morning and we now have 31,862 members "at last count"

Record membership is not far off - we're set for a great year on & off the field!

good point - the club has been amazingly slow this year.

The irony hasn't escaped me that our membership manager was previously employed by North Melbourne!

Some of the filth supporters at work are also complaining of not having their memberships either.

Anthony Hargreaves was at Collingwood I think?

He was at the Kangaroos.

Anthony Trainor was at the Filth but is now back with the Roos.

That's three days before the first bounce.

Last year we were on 27909 two days before the first bounce.

We're 14.16% up based on days out from the season.

Around the same date in previous good years we had the following:

2003: 25072 @ 20/3 (Final: 33,525)

2005: 25226 @ 22/3 (Final: 33,354)

2007: 25451 @ 20/3 (Final: 35,431)

Which puts us 25.19% up on this time last year.

On the lower figure (days before first bounce) we're on target for 40448 members.

On the higher figure (same date last year) we're on target for 44,356.

There are a few wildcards (early excitement re Judd etc) that may have made people sign up earlier than usual but these should also convince some to sign up for the first time.

If we get a few wins and don't have too many bad results/poor press I'm tipping about 41K.

GWS I was wondering how much we gained in membership beating Richmond in round 1 last year?

So we had 25,451 on March 20, how much did we gain the week following that game?

Great analysis GWS, I'm looking forward to breaking the 40k early in the season!

Last year's first game was on 1/4/07.

The tally two days before that was 27909.

Two weeks later it was 29878 which is an additional 1969.

The same result would see us at nearly 34,000 by early April.

Cheers BWS - need to hit 40k this year.

The days of membership of 30K are long gone.

Powerful clubs must comfortably knock on 40K membership each year.

Another way of looking at the figures:

After 20/3/07 we added 10420 members.

After the first match (1/4/07) we added 7522.

We're currently on 31862.

If we add 7522 we get 39384 and have 11 extra days.

If we add 10420 we get 42282.

Still nothing to suggest we shouldn't get 40,000.
