Is there any chance someone stands within 25m of Steele Sidebottom this time?

Taylor Adams also missing for the Pies.
Is DeGoey definitely not playing?
Newman and Boyd are both fringe players so we don't really have any excuses.

You forgot Taylor Adams.

Is De Goey definitely out? Ginnivan?

Ginnivan has ruled himself out.

De Goey is a test until match day you would think. Stocker should just line him up at the opening bounce if he plays.

I've had a look at some stats to see where they won and lost in last 2 games.
Note: I haven't watched either game, just reading the stats. So if I'm wrong let me know.

Pies v Dees: (Stats won)
Efficiency inside 50 - 56.1 to 44.6
Marks - 82 to 63
Tackles - 71 to 59
Tackles inside 50 - 18 to 8
Interestingly they got smashed from centre clearances 21 to 7, but won hit outs.

Their ability to rebound from defence, lock the ball in their 50 and their accuracy is what won them the game in the end.

Pies v Swans: (Stats lost)
Disposals - 322 to 390
Efficiency inside 50 - 30.8 to 47.3
Stoppage clearances - 24 to 39
Contested Poss. - 137 to 166
Uncontested Poss. - 170 to 227
Marks - 70 to 97
Tackles - 53 to 72

They managed to kill Sydney in the centre clearances 13 to 7 but Sydney played a more defensive game to nullify their around the ground clearance and rebounding game.
Syndeys tempo was also better by not letting them get the ball, thus slowing down the game and their attack.

Where we lost v Dees:
Inside 50s - 58 to 48
Marks inside F50 - 11 to 7
Contested Marks - 22 to 12
Tackles inside 50 - 20 to 16

To win we need to tag Pendles and Sidebum and stop their around the ground clearances.
We also need to play more defensive man on man and lock the ball in our F50 when we get it in there.
When we do get the ball we need to play more tempo/possession football when we have no clear options.
And we need to be more accurate in front of goals and we can do this.

As far as team changes go for this week, if we do make any.
I hope they are based on a physical defensive game plan.

I haven't been more nervous going into a game for years, I can't remember when this was the case...?

I think Collingwood will err on the side of caution and not play De Goey. This is not an all or nothing game for the Pies. Sure top 4 is on the line but they are definitely planning finals. If De Goey plays and doesn't pull up well that's it.. season over. Not playing gives him a further 2 weeks to get himself right for the finals.

We also need to be sure to pay due respect to Ash Johnson in Collingwood's forward line. This kid can play.

I have given this some thought.
If Williams is fit I'd pick him.
I just think especially after last week we need some experience, poise and good kicking skills, and Williams is that. I mean the guy has played well in finals (prelim?).
Yes he might make an error or two adjusting to a frantic game and the heat the Pies will bring, but I still think all up he will be more reliable than a young kid. He will settle.
It is a massive game after all, all the hype and what's at stake might unsettle the kids.
I just think you need experience this weekend.
Russell would want to be bloody sure he is fit though.

Not sure who you drop.
I mean I don't like LOB in what will be a tough and highly tense game, but I admit his running capacity will be handy against Collingwood's blistering rebound.
And while Owies' mistake last week was just horrendous I think you need 3 small forwards in a game where goals might come at a premium and it will be all about pressure pressure pressure. Goals like the ones Jack Martin kicked last week might be the way to score this weekend too.

Effort, pressure and a cool head will be on demand this Sunday.

I'd rather the ball in Williams' hands late if it's tight but I guess the question is does he have the fitness for a pressure game like this?

Either way it is a roll of the dice.

Also after thinking about it I think if Cerra is fit you play him because we will likely need Doc's poise and direction down back.

simple need to crowd collingwood forward line no room to lead ,ash, jamie, miochek, are all leading forwards. 2 take howe away from intercepting mark (run him around) 3 isolate Darcy (shit himself) v Harry time to get tough H.But are we smart enough to play in this manor and if we go the long bomb coll will eat us.

The open laneways for leading have killed us in the past. Ask Plowman.

Elliot loves to lead into space too.

Also, Williams is quick and nimble. He can change angles quickly because he is quick of mind.

I don’t know if they are playing mind games with me, but my Collingwood supporting colleagues seem irrationally worried about this match.
