Can't wait for Thursday

Mark J going on the walk from the city down the Yarra to a floodlight MCG on the Thursday night before Easter everyone happy cheery banter between the supporters buglers or flute players always slightly off key mangling the Lilly of Laguna tune as well as that yellow and black thing
The mixture of smells of the over cooked pies and under cooked hot dogs together with cigarette smoke permeate the air

Expectation is everything hoping our young team puts on a good performance

I'm daring to dream we can win don't think we will but will be screaming my lungs out with the rest of the navy blue tribe if we are close going into the last

Go Blues
All the Best to you all

Yep, that's how I see it, just hope Bolts can work some tactical genius with our fwd line
and you never know..

According to the HS 'best 22' for both teams, and allowing for Yarran, Conca and Thomas to be ruled out, I estimate the ave ages are;
Blues - 25 years 10 month
Tiggers - 25 years 1 month

Give the new interchange restrictions, that gives us a massive advantage. Of players under 25 they have 12 we have 8.

Of our 8 we have Cripps, JW, Doch, BB, Buckley and Kerridge.

Last year the more mature team won 73% of the games. That's without 2016 interchange restrictions

I think we'll run out the game a lot stronger.

Tigers should win based on the number of better players. It will come down to the number of turnovers. If we improve on our NAB and have a run of zero brain fades we may snatch it. I think if the Tiges feel pressured they may go into their fumbly worst. Our 'up the ground' pressure may be enough to cause panic - given the expectation on them to win but if we are the team with the nerves we will get killed on the rebound - I don't fancy our defence if they get a fast break.
Even though there is little expectation on us, I am keen as ever to win!
Go blues.

richmond will win by 13, but to them it will feel like a loss, and to us it will be the first of many honourable losses where we applaud our new found endeavour but ultimately curse the list malthouse left us with.

casboult will kick 3.

I still haven't seen evidence that he had any tactics.........

Unless playing the flanks and flooding in defence is a tactic???

Kicking down the line to a contest isn't tactical?

Is there a site that provides such stats (avg age etc) on a week by week basis?

There was a stat site that tracked list ages and rough contract dates, but I've no idea what it was called and didn't bookmark it.

I've seen site like it before disappear, whether that be due to takedown notices or disinterest, who knows.

Hang on, here's a site:

http://fanfooty.com.au/aflteams/carltonblues/

Bottom of the page, it calculates the average age of the list at that moment. Seems obvious now, but our average list age goes up 2 years once you include the rookie list.

Actions speak louder than words squibs

His round 1 game last year was the worst game i've seen from any player at Carlton for a very long time.

Words are just that words go out there and prove it Gibbs.

Sweaty palms, frown, nervous energy, pacing the hallway. Are we there yet?

Thursday night cant come quick enough. Thank goodness T20 rock n roll cricket is on to distract me.

Have a good feeling about this Friday night, but still haunted after last years first game.

Plowman Thomas McKay Sumner Jaksch and probably Armfield will not be considered, along with Jones, and a few of the kids.

I'm expecting the following line up:

B: Weitering Jamison Tuohy
HB: Byrne Rowe Docherty
Simpson

R: Kreuzer Cripps Curnow
C: Kerridge Gibbs Murphy

HF: Everitt Casboult Walker
F: Philips Graham

IC: Buckley Boekhurst Whiley Wright/ Lamb

Expect 2 rucks with one presenting deep at all times and the 3 tall Forwards to mix it up.
Expect Graham to rotate with Cripps and Whiley
Expect Curnow to tag Cochin and don't expect tagging Martin, maybe one or the other.
Will not be surprised to see Murphy starting forward but expect him along with Boeky and Buckley to give us outside speed.
Addition of Byrne gives us a bigger body with pace, and with Docherty and Simpson we have a bit of run from the backline.

Gibbs Cripps Casboult and Jamison are critical if we are to win this one.
Team defense and team effort...lets see what BB has up his sleeve.

We don't bat deep with those abovementioned underdone and unavailable.
I'm guessing White Tutt and C.Curnow to be named emergencies, or BB might offer that to Jones to make him relevant.

Come on Blues. Lets start the new era and 66 block of games on the right foot.

If we can pressure them in the midfield and win that

Deledio unlikely for season opener

Georgina Cahill, richmondfc.com.au March 21, 2016 1:14 PM

Richmond utility Brett Deledio is unlikely to play in Thursday night’s AFL season-opener against Carlton.

The 28-year-old did not train with the main group at the Club’s open training session on Sunday.

Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson, said the Club would not take any risks ahead of Round 1.

“Brett has experienced some tightness in his quadriceps and was restricted to running laps yesterday,” Richardson said.

“He is unlikely to train for the full session tomorrow, meaning he will not be risked on Thursday night.”

More to come

Hope he does play, then pings it 5 minutes in.

If we win the meedya will certainly be out in force to make excuses for Bitchmond.... players out, Martin distracted because of his dad's situation, "difficuly pre-season" the usual tripe. As long as they continue to think they're close to a flag (but not actually win one) I'll be happy.
