Board should be 6 or 7 max, but there's a lot of work to do!! I hope we are in a position to cull even further in 3 years.

That is how small to medium corporate businesses work, nowhere to hide and complete accountability.

Debate, decide, deliver. Too many on a board of an operation as small as a football club and you get stuck at the debating and move into deciding with significant caveats.

I agree with you - but it depends on the people. Kate is a good start.

Jasper Jones played one year for Carlton in 1887. Won a flag then left to captain Williamstown. I thought it might have been pretty obvious!

I was a Williamstown supporter before the VFA was destroyed by the Nazis...I mean AFL, and the other Williamstown supporter on TC was the Doc. Good fella. Knows his footy. Political animal. Funny.

Are you a Willy supporter too?

I was a Willy supporter and support them still with the Northern Blues.

There's a lot of overlap in certain areas of expertise; I expect over the next 12 months for at least Clarke to go and someone with a medical science background to come in to partner with Neil Craig now and help select and develop a group of staff and facilities for the future.

Can imagine a few others being squeezed out over time to reinvigorate things, someone with an IT/telecomm background would be good just to round out the practical STEM expertise, and a better equipped footy guy instead of Gleeson. The constitution states the board size must be min 6, max 10, I think?

You can add the Gooch, he clearly gets it.

Though I expect opposition to that comment but he's clearly seen the ineffectiveness of a gorged factional board and is hell bent on changing it along with just about every other senior position in the club.

He's put his balls on the line and I have no doubt if it doesn't work he'll tender his head. Doubt you'd even have to vote him out. He has full accountability via his actions, just hope we can build a smart cohesive board around him.

Would love to have a chat over a beer with him, he just needs to have the conviction to stay the course. I'm tipping through our onfield exploits next year there will be plenty of pressure coming on

Staunchly! I remember Doc. I didn't always agree with everything he said - but I believe he's mellowed out a little bit of late.

He'll be loving the changes the club is making on and off the field. Miss his contribution around these parts

mmm.
me too.

I know Chris Judd has indicated that he will be moving away, and staying away from the game, but I reckon he'd be a fabulous replacement for Adrian Gleeson.

Contact him. Have a chat. It might take some time but he and Trigg have been pretty good in that regard. I'm not convinced he gets it like you think, nor am I convinced he or others on the board can negotiate their way out of a wet paper bag - but I'm more than happy to be proved wrong.

I reckon that'd be an absolute disaster. Besides - it's a job that doesn't even come with an honorarium. He'd never do it.

Like a lot of coaches, sometimes it takes knowing what hard work and real decision making takes when you've done it the hard way.

Do you actually need an ex player to take a valuable position on the board?

Rhetorical question because I don't have the answer as I'm not equipped to have one in a club environment

I think id get a lot more out of it with a chance meeting minus the defenses that may be put up in a more formal setting.

It's not my style to seek out a catch up.

You would hope that Clarke, Gleeson and Pratt vacate by the end of the year.

Control. That is ultimately what France is all about. Humans can't help themselves, they crave control of others..
