Bit harsh Cazz, he was outstanding in the first half and certainly didn't stop trying in the second. We've flogged him in the midfield and now he's running around off HF like a lunatic. That smother then chase down to secure a goal was brilliant.

He's no Jarrad Waite.

No doubt he had a good 1st half. But tell me what I got wrong about his last. Kicked a solid goal at the end but when Port were really coming and everyone had to hang very tough he wasn't physically strong enough at crucial times. Them's the facts of the matter.

The difference b/t the good and bad teams is the gap b/t the players best and worst efforts. the smaller the gap the better the team under pressure.

Regards Cazzesman

Goal port - turnover Simpson (way too slow)

Goal blues - crude tackle on hendo

Rushed blues - cripps wrong option, should have paid hendo mark

Goal blues- graham crumbs off pack, high kick in from everitt, brought to ground by kreuz

Rushed blues - everitt poor kick think he might have tried to kick the goal from 55m ended up falling well short (should have been a great pressure goal)

Point port - shit turnover by murphy could have cost us

Point port - shit umpiring (ball was out on full, called throw in) didn't cost us but could have been bad

Goal port - graham missed tackle on wines after throw in

Goal blues - carrots cleans up gibbs turnover (2 in a row), handball to armfield who runs, to hendo who delivers to menzel, good mark and goal

Goal blues - wood off ground, kreuz, gibbs and cripps all involved, good work from wood to spook defender

Goal blues - cripps extracts, curnow, bell and carrots get handballs, back to cripps, amazing over the head handball (while being tackled), bell goes on great run for goal

Goal blues- cripps, graham and bell combine, delivers to everitt BANG

Point port - dropping the ball on cripps (shit work by simmo)

Goal port - high tackle from white, long kick into 50, off hands port crumbs and goals

Watched it 3 times now and the difference is astounding compared to our games under Malthouse. If we pick another coach instead of Barker, and go backwards, I'll dead set go into nuclear meltdown.

Whatever has the boys switched on, we need to maintain it from here on in. The tackling pressure is first rate, it covers so many areas of our game where we are lacking.

Sure we might not be Hawthorn clean with disposals, but if we hassle and force the opposition to respect our on field presence with fierce tackling pressure, we'll go a long way to giving ourselves every chance of staying within striking distance.

Lazy insipid football no more. I don't care if we win, lose or draw. Even if we'd lost to Port, seeing the guys hit with intent was more than pleasing.

I remember only a few weeks ago I was screaming at players running past the ball carrier. No accountability, selfish, insipid football. A disgrace to the jumper. This game was everything every Carlton supporter has been screaming for.

Because the team is actually playing the kind of football I respect and love, I've ordered my brand spanking new Carlton jumper, to replace my old #5 jumper.

This new jumper will now be sporting the #9 on the back. My new favourite player. And if this weekends game was anything to go by, #9 will be worn with great pride for many many years to come :)

GO BAGGERS!!!!!

I get that, but we've flogged him in that tall midfielder role, and now we're flogging him again. Spends so much time on ground for what he does.

Meanwhile Gibbs had a leisurely day with 63% game time alongside Menzel (81% off HF) and Henderson (84%, though he put in a shift), while Kreuzer (73%) barely did more than Wood despite the latter being on 72% of a possible 82%. Our three highest were:

Rowe - 99
Tuohy - 96
Everitt - 96

I don't have Champion Data or Prowess' effort measures, but I imagine his were off the charts for the first 3 quarters.

Quarter 3

Goal blues: Menzel advantage from holding the ball (I think), bell can't mark but cleans up, ends up with hendo, great goal from 45

Point blues: graham gets a holding the ball on 50 (great tackle), handballs to touhy misses (disappointing)

Point blues: buckley kicks long to levi, white crumbs and kicks to hendo who marks inside 50 and misses (disappointing)

Goal blues: kreuz taps over his head from throw-in in forward pocket straight to graham goal. (Way too easy)

Goal blues: yarran gets a holding the ball, kicks to kreuz on wing, kicks to hendo up forward, spoil, tapped on by murph to cripps, superstar handball, everitt handballs, armfield off ground BAGGERS (hinkley not looking like his picture in cret's bedroom)

Point port: tuohy kicks out of 50, turnover, straight back in for mark and port point (big let off)

Point blues: Gibbs to Murphy to graham, rushed through

Goal port: off throw in, great smother by doc but falls out to another port player, handball, goal

Point port: everitt horrible turnover, into marking port player, off hands through for point

Goal port/umpires: holding the ball against port not paid, goes forward, Rowe spoils, bounces clear, port crumb and goal

Goal blues - armfield floater, marked by cripps in forward 50, perfect kick to murph who marks, has head ripped off, no 50, goal anyways

Goal blues - graham smashes wines, holding the ball, kicks to hendo who gets a free on 50, levi marks in square, goal

Point blues: hendo snap from pocket, rushed through

Hendo gets hit high in 50. Nothing.

Point port: Rowe kicks in, levi pushed out (no free), kick in 50 (not 15 but paid) point (all it @#$%&! deserved)

Notes:
Buckley great this quarter
Yaz better than first two quarters
Rowe smashing Schultz
Murph great quarter

Disappointing to see the media trying crucify Gibbs. It was unfortunate that the bloke's head hit the turf but it was a good tough fair tackle with accidental collateral damage. If the guy had got up and kept playing no-one would be saying boo about it.

Wayne Carey was scathing of any suggestion that there was anything wrong with the Gibbs tackle. At the end of the day you have to pin both arms if you can. Gray still had the ball when he hit the ground. Unfortunately he didn't have a pillow.

It's promising, but I don't think we'll be riding the highs of a premiership in October
