the cap is not only being filled
but we work on ways to reward players with 3rd party arragements

our priority is no footballers playing football

Last night was bad, real bad, but it could be the kick in the pants that starts a turnaround for our club.

I'm not getting into sacking the board or president, any of that business. What I saw last night lies squarely at the players feet.

Essendon* ran, and ran, and ran. They ran into space, the ran in numbers, they ran to fill holes and most importantly they ran to support each other.

Carlton on the other hand, from what I could see time and time again were players WATCHING whilst their team mate negated 2 or 3 players as they waited for someone else to do the hard yards and make something happen. Those in direct vicinity of the ball looked busy, but those just outside of the play WATCHED, whilst their Essendon* counterpart got busy. We simply do not support each other.
I'm pretty horrified at those who are slagging off on Murphy saying he's not leadership material. For a guy who gets flower all support, he does an incredible job. The thing that gets my blood boiling is this is nothing new. Judd was in the exact same position with no support getting bashed and smashed game after game. We could see it, the media could see it and the opposition could see it, and they can STILL bloody see it. We simply do NOT support each other with ANY kind of mongrel what so ever. In layman's terms we are not feared nor respected.

Until we start spilling blood for one another, start running until we puke, start putting ourselves in harms way, hell whatever it takes to get the job done we will be simply brushed aside and spectators to the game. And last night that is what I saw, SPECTATORS!

Absolutely no mongrel about ourselves whatsoever. It's embarrassing.

It is no bloody secret amongst the other clubs that we are seen as weak. We are not feared, and thus we are not respected. All you have to do is bring some mongrel, switch on, go hard and we will fold. We are a team of spectators who have mastered the art of "doing what's required" on an individual level and nothing more. We are a team of professional spectators who are an embarrassment to themselves and our club.

THIS is the culture at our club right now. And it better bloody change from here on in or I'm done with this selfish self centered pack of professional spectating sportsmen disguising themselves as footballers. The buck stops here, or the buck stops, you hear me Carlton? The buck stops!

Forget their sensitive new age bullshit feelings and rip into these posers disguising themselves as footballers. Ain't they even ashamed to be seen for what they are when they run out onto the ground? Or are they so self delusional and full of it, they actually believe they have everyone fooled? Take it from me, they certainly don't have the opposition fooled, that much is obvious.

I am embarrassed, don't they have any pride? character? hell if not for yourself, at least for those you know like family and friends watching you pretending to play a mans game? Its one thing to say your an AFL footballer, but its another thing entirely to play like one. Doesn't it prick you deep inside when you walk through the hallways of that club and see the greats of the game adorning its walls and you know your a poser? MEN who bleed for their club, their team mates, for each other and your their pretending like you are one of them?

Professional athletes? Yeah that you are. Carlton footballers? Not even close.

The number of kick in the pants that we have had over the years is mind blowing.

It's always same shit, different year.

Great !

What media directives are they going to receive today from the Club and spill on TC.

Or do you care to share us with your wisdom?

Didn't watch the game, not going to watch the game.

There has been an acceptance of mediocrity at the club and the bill is now due.

We urgently need a new President and a new CEO. People with some vision, passion and enthusiasm. I think Swann smartened us up a bit early on in his tenure, but it looks and feels stale. Sticks is not a dinosaur. Dinosaurs are active. Sticks is a fossil. Immoveable. I hope he enjoys the celebrations he insisted on hanging around for.

Synners, I can't believe the club would contact you in that manner. You'd think they'd have enough on their plate. It would be laughable if it wasn't so sad. Who the @#$%&! do they think they are? If they applied that sort of critique on the recruiting dept four years ago we might have a list to work with.

The first thing my 6yo and 10yo asked me this morning is whether we won against Essendon* or not.

They were allowed to stay up till half time when we were behind by 44 points.
They both thought if we could win from that position in 1970 we could do it against the drug cheats.

My kids love being Carlton supporters amongst the sea of Swans.
They love our history. They love Jezza more than I do. They love Teddy Hopkins, Big Nick...Doull, yesterday at Lion King they were talking up Bosustow....

I am so disappointed in our team...understatement.

The look on my kids faces throughout the 1st quarter saddened me.....a lot.

Pathetic effort by the team. Lack of desire. No desperation....really didnt look like they wanted to win TBH.

Too skinny. Too slow. Cant mark. Cant kick. Gutless.

This is not the Carlton that I once knew.

What will get overlooked amidst our diabolical performance is how well Mark Thompson coached. With Ryder and Bellchambers out, they went small with the express tactic of trying to engineer mismatches close to goal ... particularly Goddard. It didn't matter that Jamieson dominated his direct opponent all night (Daniher and Carlisle) because we still had White and Tuohy hopelessly out of their depth against opponents of the wrong bodyshape. The lack of overall leadership meant that we couldn't workj out how to pick up the opposition forwards on the transition, leading to a heap of easy goals.

Our 10 year weakness against small forwards was highlighted again last night ... it's been Medhurst, Milne, Elliott, Lindsay Thomas ... Winderlich 4!!! :hitcomputer:

Casboult can clunk a mark, but can not kick.

that is still one up on most of our senior players.

He is 24 and out only KPF in the VFL. Perhaps it is time to give him a guarantee of 10-12 games and cut him if he doesn't make an impact.

We clearly need Henderson down back.

I agree about Hendo. I never thought I'd quote brereton here, but he nailed it for Henderson.

He's an 8.5 or 9 as a backman, or a 7 as a forward, which is still better than any other forward we have, but just more valuable on a winning team down back.

Casboult can surely learn how to tidy up his kicking. He can read the game, he can mark and loves the rough stuff.

Pardon me, but that's the exact prototype we need more of.

At the moment it's the ONLY prototype we have at the moment.

Doc Sherrin would be disgusted as anyone. I don't quite see your point.

As for Cazzeman, if you were him would you join in on here ATM? He would be on a hiding to nothing.

Talking about cheap shots while you're posting up 36pt font size taunts is an interesting concept, wouldn't you think?

No, mosquito fleet has it right the first time it was a cheap shot at his arrant stupidity.

I've got nothing against Doc Sherrin or Cazzesman.
