Umpires had nothing to do with it. We desperately need "real" leaders. Murph, Judd etc just don't cut it. Someone on this site made a comment recently like........what keeps MM up late at night is that our tough players have no talent and our talented players have no toughness.

Thought we did well to control so much of the game. But when they clicked they were all over us. They should have won by more.

Next week we go down by 10-12 goals. Lock it in.

We we nt out and drafted traded for and lured a bunch of half back flankers...

Ratten knocked us back 3 years....... he had a huge lack of understanding .

We need a mini rebuild....!!!

There is no !@#$%& way we wont cut deep....!!!...

Millions were spent changing the coaching staff on the premise that he would get results

Now people are changing their minds about what MM is here for.

Nothing was spent changing the list. Now we have a coach who can maximise the $ in changing it.

Umpiring was very good tonight.
The non-review was a mistake, and the sliding rule against Curnow was dubious. Otherwise they put the whistles away.

The players lost this game.

Just by the way, Essendon* have incredible tall talent. Carlisle, Hurley, Ryder, Daniher... and Bellchambers couldn't get a game and he's a better ruckmen than we have.

That is the next test isn't it.

Will the club get the cheque book out again and pay overs for someone or draft and develop.

At least Shane Rogers understands.

The goal in the first quarter? Big deal. We would have lost a six goal lead instead of five.

I know what your saying King K.

But we probably should have won by 6 goals.

We used up so much energy in the first (for no reward) the second (for some reward) and the first half of the third (for not enough reward) we were cooked.

7 day break and i'm hopeful about next week.

A tad oversimplified, but essentially...

Fat lot of good those guys would have made if we took our chances though....

Agree, is it the new operations man at AFL that's pushed this change? Works pretty well.

But didn't Fletcher jump on Eddie's back? That was glaring.

Why didn't Garlett make a fuss about it... force the umpire's to re-think?

Either way... though we got away with Bett's non review.

A masochist I may be, but from BomberBlitz:

Carlton with their best side, Waite plays the best game he'll play before he retires. Walker, Judd, Gibbs, Kruezer, Casboult play great games and we still beat them.

Guess we must be in line for a flag then Wallsy.

Maybe.

But we just ran out of puff. We used a lot of power early on.

At least we are now in a position TPP wise to do something.

Ralph's thinks Le Cras and Gumby are our targets. $900k in the chest + money freed up from Warnock or Hammer moving on.

Add to that a fresh batch of kids based on a new recruiting philosophy, I have no doubt MM will have us top 4 within 2 years.

And lucky they didn't pay the free against Walker on Stanton...
