When you couple that with a feeble ruck division in that time - they allowed Warnock to play despite no pre-season and Hammer was only allowed up forward - we generally struggled in the compression. No lateral thinking; no quick kicks out, no real third man up, no options.

In that time I think our entire midfield coaching group were lost for ideas. Not surprised he's gone.

The bit about the ruck is something I hadn't considered nor heard much discussion on this either.

No lateral thinking is what we were all thinking...that the coaching panel, let alone midfield coach, were missing...imo

I want 3 changes under MM.

Wins, wins and more wins.

How he achieves that is up to him and his staff.

BV, The 2013 list are a far cry from the list Pagan had to deal with....

I do get your point though....

It will be difficult.
However, not as difficult as correcting grammatical errors.

One thing is, MM is starting to look almost normal in CFC clothes.

He'll probably even look like our coach by around March next year. :smoking:

I'd like to see him a Cowdy hat, with a dark navy band, and CFC insignia.
He'd look good dressed like that. Oh, and a Cowdy shirt too.

Changes?
Well if the Arizona trip is anything to go by, we will have a tight and much more spirited playing group! Has to count for plenty.

John Donehue, a "specialist coach" at Carlton has gone to Port Adelaide

Paul Williams can't get a gig & will be a teacher in 2013

Malthouse doesn't like the risk of injury caused by tackling drills in training - but is on record as saying players who don't tackle during games will be made aware of there deficiency in no uncertain terms.

John Donehue leaving is a bit of a loss as he was credited with adding the harder edge to our team that led to a succesful 2011.

Not tackling during regular training I can understand but not teaching tackling with a specalist is a little worrying.

Maybe it is being covered somewhere else or as Carlton was quoted as being the number 1 tackling team when Malthouse was appointed they see the skills as having been succesfully imparted.

Karate kid is helpful here:

Daniel: Hey, what kind of belt do you have?
Miyagi: Canvas. JC Penney, $3.98. You like?
Daniel: [laughs]No, I meant...
Miyagi: In Okinawa, belt mean no need rope to hold up pants.
[laughs; then, seriously]
Miyagi: Daniel-san...
[taps his head]
Miyagi: Karate here.
[taps his heart]
Miyagi: Karate here.
[points to his belt]
Miyagi: Karate never here. Understand?

We have the coach that matters

Daniel: Hey Mr. Miyagi. Where did all these cars come from?

Mr. Miyagi (walking away): Detroit...
